Game Overview
The Ni no Kuni franchise is a series of fantasy role-playing games that have been praised by critics to be among the best in the genre today. Ni no Kuni follows the tale of a protagonist who journeys across a vast magical land while evil forces are astir. The series has also attracted a considerable following because of its compelling and memorable narratives, with the animation sequences produced by critically-acclaimed Studio Ghibli.
The series began in 2010 with the Japan-only release of Ni no Kuni: Dominion of the Dark Djinn (Nintendo DS) in 2010, followed by Hotroit Stories (mobile). Daibouken Monsters (mobile)was made available only in Japan as well in 2012. In 2013, Wrath of the White Witch (Playstation 3) was launched as the first and only title in the franchise to date to also be available in Western regions.
Ni no Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom was announced during the 2015 Playstation Experience, set to be released for the Playstation 4 and Microsoft Windows. It tells the story of King Evan Pettiwhisker Tildrum who sets off on an adventure to reclaim his kingdom after being usurped from his castle.
The upcoming title will feature a beautifully-crafted world characteristic of the highly-successful fantasy franchise, as well as a compelling RPG storyline. The character designs were handled by veteran Studio Ghibli animator Yoshiyuki Momose. The game’s musical score will be produced by Joe Hisaishi, a renowned composer known for his work in various Studio Ghibli films.
