MAG Farming Guide for Metaphor: ReFantazio
Farm the red wolves at Regalis Cathedral.
The red wolves found in Regalis Cathedral can be farmed to earn a lot of Magla (MAG) fast. These enemies spawn frequently in the area, making them a good source of MAG during the early stages.
To take down the wolves fast, try to use multi-target Synthesis skills on them whenever you can.
Switch to Mage Archetype if you run out of MP.
If you find yourself low on MP, equip the Mage Archetype and spend time taking down the near the Attraction Crystal. Doing so lets you recover MP for free until you are able to hunt down the red wolves again.
Farm Blue Elementals in Regalis Cathedral and Belega Corridor.
Blue Elementals who also appear in Regalis Cathedral as well as Belega Corridor also yield a hefty amount of MAG when defeated. If they manage to flee from you, just re-enter the map and engage them again.
Blue Elementals are weak against Fire so use Fire skills to kill them off fast when farming MAG.
Lower the difficulty to Beginner.
Lowering the difficulty to Beginner is especially useful when farming MAG as you will earn 1.5x the normal amount from battles. There are no penalties for changing the difficulty so feel free to play on Beginner if you want to easily earn MAG.
How to Use MAG
Used to unlock new Archetypes.
MAG is used to obtain new Archetypes in the game. Archetypes are a core feature of Metaphor: ReFantazio and are similar to jobs or classes in most RPGs. The advantage (or disadvantage) you have during battles is heavily dependent on your party’s Archetypes and the types of enemies you encounter in battle.
Spent to inherit skills.
You also need MAG to inherit skills of one Archetype to another at the Academy. The amount of MAG needed is based on the the type of abilities you want to pass on.
Can be exchanged for Reeves (money).
Finally, you can exchange MAG for Reeves, the game’s main form of currency used to purchase items or avail of various services. MAG can be traded-in for money at the Royal Capital Gran Trad.
Note that the exchange range depends on the day’s weather so you may want to time it when you can earn a lot more money from offloading MAG.
