To get a Gold Bone in Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD (Dark Moon), you will first need to collect 200 gold (money).

Upon beginning the level, aim progress through the various areas while collecting money until you have at least 200 gold.

Gold Bones begin to spawn in areas after you have accumulated at least 200 gold.

Once you have accumulated 200 gold, Gold Bones will begin to appear in gathering points such as pots and drawers. Be sure to examine every room you enter after getting 200 gold to avoid missing out on any Gold Bones in the game.

Gold Bones are rare consumable in the game that allow Luigi to be revived once during each stage after being knocked out. When you have a Gold Bone, a dog will come to Luigi’s aid when the latter loses consciousness.

As mentioned, you can use Gold Bones to recover from being knocked out once per level. The effect of Gold Bones are also activated automatically once Luigi’s health reaches 0 so there is no way to use it outside of getting knocked out.

To avoid having to use up your Gold Bone, try to avoid taking damage throughout the stage.
