How to Inherit Archetype Skills Guide for Metaphor: ReFantazio

Spend Magla (MAG) at the Akademia.

To inherit Archetype skills in Metaphor: ReFantazio, simply head to the Akademia and spend a certain amount of Magla (MAG). The cost of passing on various Archetype skills varies, with some abilities being more expensive to transfer to Archetypes than others.

After paying the required amount of MAG, you can freely customize skills for a character.

You can set Archetype skills you want to inherit after spending MAG. Passing on the same skills on a different character, however, will require you to pay the MAG cost again.

You can only inherit Archetype skills you have learned.

Note that it is only possible to inherit Archetype skills that you have already unlocked. Passing on, say, Tarukaja from the Seeker Archetype to another Archetype is only possible if you raise the Seeker’s rank to 4 (to learn the skill).

Benefits of Inheriting Archetype Skills

Grants you a wider arsenal of moves to use in battle.

Being able to freely inherit various Archetype skills grants characters access to more options against enemies in the game. This, in turn, opens up more possibilities for strategy for the team, with each ally having the potential to fulfill their roles more effectively, compensate for certain drawbacks, or become more versatile for the benefit of the party.

Allows you to cover more damage types to target enemy weaknesses.

Transferring skills also allow Archetypes to grant characters skills that certain enemies are weak against. Once the party is able to cover more damage types, you will be able to deal with a greater variety of foes encountered in dungeons more easily throughout the game.

Recommended Archetype Skills to Inherit

Set recovery and buff skills.

All recovery and buff skills are generally good to have at any point in the game as they undoubtedly increase the party’s survivability in battle. Doing so improves a support character’s effectiveness in their role or gives a non-support character some versatility to assist healers and buffers during difficult fights, especially against story bosses.

Inherit skills with damage types you do not have access to.

When you are not sure which Archetype skills to transfer, it is recommended to pass on abilities whose attributes you currently are not able to deal against enemies. It is generally a waste to leave any skill slots empty so always try to fill them out whenever you have the MAG to spend.
