This is a Sonic Mania Wiki and Strategy Guide page containing walkthroughs, strategy guides, tips and tricks for the new side-scrolling game developed by Headcannon and PagodaWest Games and published by Sega Entertainment for the Playstation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Microsoft Windows. It is scheduled for release on Q2 or Q3 2017.

Game Overview

The Sonic the Hedgehog series has spanned a multitude of games since its early days on the Sega Genesis, its home platform. Since the release of the first game (Sonic the Hedgehog), it has given rise to many other sequels and featured the fast-paced side-scrolling gameplay characteristic of the franchise to this day. The sequel Sonic the Hedgehog 2 introduced a new playable character Miles “Tails” Prower, Sonic’s most enduring sidekick throughout the games.

The trend of featuring more playable characters has been made into somewhat of a tradition in the game after the second game, with characters like Knuckles, Amy Rose and Shadow eventually joining the roster.

Almost all of the Sonic titles will have the iconic Dr. Robotnik as the primary villain, a mad scientist bent on conquering Sonic’s homeworld and what lies beyond it through technological means that have become extremely varied as the series progressed. In almost all Sonic the Hedgehog games, Dr. Robotnik plans to use mysterious artifacts known as Chaos Emeralds to achieve his goals.

To this day, the Sonic the Hedgehog series continues to be well-loved by fans and non-fans alike, with Sonic Mania returning to the gameplay and visual style of the first game. It continues to create diverse and unique characters that have very specific strengths and weaknesses, as well as crafting and imagining fantastic game worlds and levels. While most games in the series have opted for a light-hearted and often humorous storyline, it nevertheless stands as a memorable work enjoyed by all ages.
