Clash Royale Major Update to Launch in October

Clash Royale, the critically-acclaimed online mobile strategy game is set to release additional features for the game next month. The upcoming Clash Royale major update will include an entirely new game mode and quests, as well as mysterious new content that is only hinted as “something casual”.

It was teased that the new game mode rolling out will adopt the 2v2 format. The actual announcement from Supercell’s developer team reads:

“We’ve got a new game mode that is VASTLY different from all others. It’s our favorite 2v2 mode on the game team.”

Clash Royale‘s 1v1 mode is still the game’s most competitive format, while a 2v2 ladder-climb may still be far off. It is also not clear if Supercell plans to introduce casual single matches in future updates. In fact, Supercell has stated that the 2v2 modes were intended to act as a breather from “ladder stress” common in ranked play.

Of course, the Clash Royale major update is not without introducing new cards. Supercell however, pointed out that they will be releasing a new one every month. There is even been word that the developer team has been “toying around with the idea of ghost again”.

The Clash Royale major update may also include a new arena for players to try out. Supercell has not been specific on the details, but said that “it might make it” in the upcoming patch for the game.

News of the Clash Royale major update comes as Supercell earlier talked about the potential of the game to expand into eSports. In an AMA on the game’s subreddit, the company also discussed issues regarding further tweaks and balances. This is in line with Supercell’s aim to “make all cards somewhat useful”, allowing for more meaningful plays during every match.
