This is a Call of Duty: World War II (CoD:WW2) Wiki and Strategy Guide page containing walkthroughs, strategy guides, tips and tricks for the new first-person shooter game developed by Sledgehammer Games and published by Activision for Microsoft Windows, Playstation 4 and Xbox One. It will be released on November 3, 2017.

Game Overview

CoD: WWII is a first-person shooter game developed by Sledgehammer Games and published by Activision set for release on November 3, 2017. The game is the latest entry to the CoD games franchise after 2013’s CoD: Ghosts, which was rumored to have a sequel in the past. It does not seem to be the case for announcement of CoD: WWII, as it’s events take place in a different time period. Of course, CoD: WW2 is set during the Second World War.

The game puts players in the boots of US Army Private First Class Ronald “Red” Daniels who arrives on the beaches of Normandy with the 1st Infantry Division (Big Red One) during the invasion of Europe. Red experiences the brutal reality of life in the front lines with his brothers-in-arms as they fight to preserve freedom in the world on the brink of tyranny.

Players will traverse the vastness of war-torn Europe from Normandy to the Hurtgen Forest and experience the dramatic narrative that describes the bravery and sacrifice of the men who fought in WWII during 1944 to 1945. It will however, highlight certain events from 1940 to 1944 to contextualize the game’s main story campaign.

CoD: WWII will retain the same fast-paced and story-driven campaign missions as with the previous games in the franchise, as well as exciting multiplayer elements such as War, Divisions and Headquarters which will be detailed further towards the game’s release.

History of Call of Duty Games

The Call of Duty series has sold over 175 million copies worldwide, making it among the most successful first-person shooter franchises of all time. As the latest entry to the acclaimed action shooter titles, CoD: WWII will be released worldwide on November 3, 2017.

  • Call of Duty 3 – The last title in the series set in WW2

Call of Duty 3 was the last game to be set during the Second World War, the biggest and most destructive conflict in human history.

The Call of Duty games are known for portraying very realistic combat and drama, with the movie Saving Private Ryan being heavily influential to many of its story elements. Players (through their characters) will experience actual combat sensations, such as the feeling of getting “shell-shocked” during explosions, the blurring of vision during critical injury and similar reactions. These elements have since been diversified as more FPS games became popular around the world.

  • Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare’s transition to contemporary war

Upon the release of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, the game shifted into present-day military technology and real-world crises – most notably terrorism.

It was also during this time that franchise began to expand its gameplay to better accommodate fast-paced combat and multiplayer modes. The latter in particular, has made the game vastly popular around the world.

  • Towards Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: World War 2

In 2010, Call of Duty: Black Ops was released and included the revamped Zombie Mode that was revamped from Call of Duty: World at War. Black Ops was also built on historical premise but with a mainly fictional narrative. Towards its sequel and then finally Black Ops 3, the game ended up adopting advanced technology which have not been popularized as much yet in the present.

Upon the release of Call of Duty: Ghost in 2013, the game adopted the alternate time period that follows the nuclear destruction of the Middle East, with the player character an operative from the Ghost unit. In 2014, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare was released and featured events even farther into contemporary and even future technology and combat.

Call of Duty: World War 2 pays homage to a historical event in human history as it revisits the actions of the soldiers that fought in the Second World War.

Call of Duty Revisits the Second World War

While it was rumored that the next Call of Duty game was a direct sequel to Ghosts, it can as quite as surprise that the franchise has decided to focus on World War 2 for their latest title. It can also be guessed that this may be last Call of Duty game to feature WW2 as a culmination of the theme it adopted in the previous titles in the series.

  • Main Campaign Mode as explained by the developer

In Campaign Mode, players will experience the game’s main story in the boots of a US Army soldier of the Allied Forces of World War 2 in the continent of Europe.

Call of Duty: World War 2 describes the developments of the conflict against Nazi Germany during the last half of the war, capturing the moments of heroism displayed by the men who sought to preserve freedom for the world at large.

In the Developer’s point of view, “Freedom”, “Hero” and “the common man” are common words that appear in development blogs. It is evident that the developer aims to depict populism and protectionism that is becoming increasingly evident in various countries locked in conflict around the world today.

  • Multiplayer and Zombie Modes will be included

Online Multiplayer and Zombie mode has been confirmed.

Multiplayer will deliver the same collaborative and competitive gameplay characteristic of the long-running FPS series, as well as Zombie mode where players will test their skill to fend off waves of Nazi zombies.
