Game Overview

The Gran Turismo franchise is one of the most recognizable game titles across any genre in the video game industry today. Debuting in its first game Gran Turismo in 1997, the series has gone to produce subsequent follow-ups on the Playstation, Playstation 2, Playstation 3 and the Playstation Portable. Today with over 76 million units sold, Gran Turismo is the highest selling video game franchise under the Playstation brand.

Gran Turismo features a staggering collection of real-world cars developed by various manufacturers from around the world. The series has also gone to include an impressive number of concept and prototype cars which have not been driven in real life, but have been planned by engineers from many automotive companies. Some of these dream cars have actually been exhibited at various car shows and events that have launched in partnership with the Gran Turismo title.

Announced at the 2015 Paris Games Week event, Gran Turismo Sport will be the thirteenth title in the long-running racing franchise and the first game to be developed for an 8th generation console. It is said to mark “a new generation” in the Gran Turismo series, as told by series creator Kazunori Yamauchi.

Gameplay and Features

  • Massive Lineup That Includes Borth Sports Cars and Other Road Automobiles

Gran Turismo Sport will feature over 140 cars, according to recent details about the game. The title will include various sports cars, as well as luxury, road, compact and other automobile types. The vehicle models will be rendered to accommodate 4K resolution, making them the most realistic designs that the series will produce to date.

  • Playstation VR Support

To heighten the feel of realism and excitement of driving, Gran Turismo Sport will accommodate an optional virtual reality mode using Sony Interactive Entertainment’s special headset, the Playsation VR. However, it was stated by series creator Kazunori Yamauchi that this feature will only be “one part of the game” and that only certain game modes will be playable on VR.

  • Three Main Games Modes: Campaign, Arcade and Sport Mode

Gran Turismo Sport will offer three primary game modes: Campaign, Arcade and Sport Mode, as well as offline and online racing.

Campaign Mode

Campaign Mode offers the classic home console feel of the game, with in-game seasonal events and objectives that allow the player to obtain and collect various cars and modifications as they progress further.

Arcade Mode

The more competitive mode of Gran Turismo Sport (as with the previous titles in the series), Arcade Mode will offer most of the traditional game formats such as Single Race, Time Trial and Battles in various formats and conditions.

Sport Mode

Sport Mode is offered to allow players to race purely for fun and enjoyment. Players will also be evaluated according to their online race behavior, and judged based on their skill and manners during daily races. This allows the game to pair drivers of nearly equal skill and experience against each other.

  1. Is there anyway to test a car’s top speed? As far as I can see you can only do time trials and try to notice how fast you go
