Game Overview

The Red Dead franchise is a series of action games set in the Wild West, taking heavy inspiration from many Spaghetti Western genre in film, television and other media. Beginning with Red Dead Revolver in 2004, the game adopted a third-person shooter style of gameplay set in the 1880s and was released for the Playstation 2 and Xbox. Red Dead Revolver also allowed players to participate in a multiplayer mode on the same console with up to two to four players. The game was followed by the highly-successful and critically-acclaimed Red Dead Redemption in 2010 for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, and featured an open-world environment much like the Grand Theft Auto games, another popular Rockstar franchise.

The upcoming sequel Red Dead Redemption 2 aims to deliver the same free-roaming action game experience with epic gunfights, unique characters and a compelling storyline characteristic of the series. Red Dead Redemption 2 was announced in October 18, 2016, while the first trailer containing first footage of the game.

Red Dead Redemption 2 on Social Media

Two days before, the company took to social media (as well as harnessing their own website) and released two teaser images using the colors and theme of Red Dead Redemption. The teasers drew massive attention and pushed stock prices of of its distributor Take-Two Interactive to almost six percent. This has also led some fans to petition for a PC port of the upcoming title. An agreement was then made with Sony Interactive Entertainment for certain online game content to be available as timed exclusives for the Playstation 4.
