Nintendo Direct Confirms Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Release Date

Xenoblade Chronicles 2, the sequel to the open-world role-playing game Xenoblade Chronicles, is coming out this year. The Nintendo Direct on September 13, 2017 clears the air on when the sci-fi fantasy title is set to hit the shelves – December 1, 2017. Announcement of the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 release date is just one of the many highlights during Nintendo’s annual online presentation event.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 follows the tale of protagonists Rex and Pyra, two friends on a quest for Elysium or humanity’s ultimate paradise. They must explore their mysterious world – an ocean of endless clouds – across vast masses of terrain formed from the backs of enormous beings known as Titans. Actual cities, town and villages can be found throughout the animate continents themselves, where people teem life and their surroundings.

The game’s teaser also revealed the different factions within the game’s narrative. These are The Kingdom of Uraya, Empire of Mor Ardain, Imperial Province of Gormott, Indoline Praetorium, Argentum Trade Guild and Torna. The last in the list seems to be the “evil organization” in the game. You can watch footage of the game from the trailer below.

As a follow-up to the successful Xenoblade Chronicles on the Nintendo Wii U, the game will continue the previous title’s brand of open-world exploration across a futuristic-fantasy world. It is also expected to take heavily from religious symbolism, with continuing focus on the “xeno” theme.

The game was first announced in January 2017 during Nintendo’s event revealing the Nintendo Switch hybrid console.

Word of the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 release date comes as Nintendo teases more information and footage of other upcoming titles for the Nintendo Switch hybrid console. Among the most notable are Project Octopath Traveler, Kirby Star Allies and Doom.

It has also been confirmed for the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 release date that the game will be offered in a limited edition copy. The package will include the game itself, as well as the game’s official artbook, soundtrack and a steelbook case.
