COD WW2 Beta Test Review

I’m going to write about my impressions while playing the beta test, which was held around 8/25 in Japan time.

In this version of COD, it was very charming that the jet pack wasn’t around for the first time in several installments. Also, it was refreshing to play COD in a World War II setting.

Good Points

  • Many real guns appeared. We can handle a few weapons at a time.
  • The lack of a jet pack reduced the need to be aware of enemies attacking vertically.
  • Highly evolved graphics
  • Roles are separated by Divisions
  • Improved lass Creation and allowing a degree of freedom by abolishing the old system
  • Prevented “squirrel hunting” by abolishing infinite sprint
  • Very realistic gameplay due to removal of weapons camouflage
  • Interval at countdown before starting a match
  • Added a new game mode called “War Mode”

Points for Improvement

  • Playing the game felt like work. I only felt a low sense of exhilaration.
  • Hit sounds are too faint
  • Short sprinting distance
  • A lot of unrealistic gun design, such as gunfire sound, iron sights, and the size of the magazine.
  • It’s very difficult to locate grenades and other explosives, especially hidden land mines.
  • SMG is too strong and LMG is too weak. Weapon balance is not so good in general.
  • Tactical superiority or inferiority depending your position in the map is very frequent.
  • The flag area of your domain is very narrow.
  • Defending your side is too advantageous in War Mode–the game does not progress well to the end. Game balance adjustment is necessary.
  • There is a long standby time after matching ends.

Things that Should be Fixed

  • Incendiary shells are too strong so weakness and other modifications will have to be made.
  • Improving party UI and experience
  • Consider strengthening score for Airborne Troops
  • Increase kill points in Domination from 50 to 100.
  • Change match score for Team Deathmatch to 100.
  • Fix hit sound effects.
  • Reduce the number of fire bottles acquired to 1.
  • Shorten the ADS transition time when sprinting.
  • Weaken incendiary bullets.
  • Raise durability of Reconnaissance machine.
  • Bumper jumpers and other key controller settings should be added.

Impressions

I think this game brought back the classic Call of Duty, and playing it feels nostalgic due to the lack of futuristic things like the jet pack. I think that a lot of people have divided opinions on this, so this is my personal opinion. Because there are no variations that allow you to jump out of the corner or from behind, I am concerned that there are many people who will take advantage of this and camp.

You can only sprint for a little while, and ADS from dashing is slow, so it’s a bit hard to move around.

There are also a lot of scenese that tend to become checkpoints in fear of death to activate the killstreak any further.

Due to these situations, I think there is a tendency for the game devs to induce the feeling of exhilaration without changing a lot of the gameplay.

It would be more exciting for the game to bring in changes in the combat, that would make it very exciting to play.

Regarding the new War mode, which had mixed views from other reviewers, I felt that the defensive side was too favored under the current conditions. Trying to repair a bridge is terrifying. I don’t want to be a sniper’s prey.

There’s a lot to like about this Private beta multiplayer mode–a first in a long time, and it is very fun in spite of lacking a zombies or campaign mode..
