Experience Point System

Experience points are divided based on the number of party members. The experience points earned are divided by the number of party members and given to each individual. Therefore, if the party size is small, the experience points per person increase. While it’s fine to fight with a normal party of four members, if you want to prioritize leveling up a specific character, it’s recommended to reduce the number of party members.

Early to Mid-Game Leveling Guide

This method is for leveling up until you are capable of defeating Baramos. While “Metal Slimes” do appear in Baramos’ Lair, hunting a large number of “Metal Slimes” elsewhere is often more efficient.

Hunt Liquid Metal Slimes at the Tower of Transcendence

Upon arriving at Alltrades Abbey, you may want to level up in preparation for switching jobs. Due to the high spawn rate, it is advisable to hunt “Metal Slimes” in the Tower of Transcendence. Proceed to the fifth floor or higher as the Metal Slimes are encountered on those floors more often, which will allow you to gain exp much faster.

Experience Points Earned

Party Setup Experience Points per Party Member
Hero (Solo) 4,140
Hero + Warrior 3,105
Hero + Warrior + Priest 2,070
Hero + Warrior + Priest + Mage 1,035

Use Poison Powder to Confuse Enemies

The Poison Powder is available in Persistence or Samanoasa, which can be used to confuse enemies, making it easier to defeat Metal Slimes. Stock up on Poison Powder before you go Metal Slime hunting and distribute it among all party members.

Confusing Metal Slimes stops them from escaping, guaranteeing you earn the experience points. Additionally, Poison Powder is also effective against monsters that accompany Metal Slime, inflicting considerable damage on them.

The Poison Needle weapon can be effective as well.

The “Poison Needle,” which can be found in treasure chests at Khoryv’s tool shop, is another useful method. Although rare, it can instantly defeat an enemy with a critical hit. This method is less frustrating than whittling down a Metal Slime’s health with regular attacks.

Late Game Leveling Guide

Upon defeating Baramos and venturing into the world of Alefgard, numerous leveling methods become available. With your characters’ higher levels and better equipment, defeating metal-type monsters becomes significantly easier.

Hunt Liquid Metal Slimes in Rimuldar

In Alefgard’s underground world, Liquid Metal slime can be found in several places. The “Tower of Rubiss” and the vicinity of “Rimuldar” are particularly favored as a good farming spot.

Experience Points Earned

Party Setup Experience Points per Party Member
Hero (Solo) 40,200
Hero + Warrior 30,150
Hero + Warrior + Priest 20,100
Hero + Warrior + Priest + Mage 10,050

Use the Dragonram spell

To defeat Liquid Metal Slimes, one strategy is to use the “Dragonram” spell, accessible to Mages and Sages. In Dragon Quest III, this spell morphs the caster into a dragon capable of incinerating metal-type enemies with a single fiery breath.

Initiate the battle with Dragonram, followed by a fiery assault on the next turn. Be mindful that if the enemy escapes during the first turn, the strategy fails. Use “Pierium” to boost your speed on the second turn, enhancing the likelihood of defeating the Liquid Metal Slimes.

Aim for Critical Hits

Normal attacks deal only 1 damage to Liquid Metal Slimes, but a critical hit can cause significant damage, potentially defeating them in a single strike. Martial Artists are particularly suited for hunting these creatures, as their critical hit rate improves with their level. Moreover, they require no equipment and only their bare fists!

Additionally, the “Demon Axe,” which Warriors can wield, is highly effective. Should you have a Warrior in your party, it’s advisable to equip them with this axe to increase the chance of taking down Liquid Metal Slimes.

Apply status ailments to enemies

Unlike Metal Slimes, Liquid Metal Slimes are immune to confusion. However, the monsters that often accompany them are not immune to confusion. Thus, it is advisable to use “Poison Powder” or “Fuddle” to disorient the other monsters, which can then assist in taking down the Liquid Metal Slimes.

The Poison Needle’s One-Hit Kill method is still effective

Like hunting Metal Slime, using the “Poison Needle” is highly effective against Liquid Metal Slime as well. Given that Liquid Metal Slimes possess more HP than Metal Slimes, there’s a good chance they will escape if you attempt to gradually reduce their health. Therefore, using the Poison Needle is still an efficient strategy.
