Hero (Protagonist)

The protagonist of Dragon Quest III. The hero job excels in both offense and defense, serving as the party’s main core. This job is capable of casting teleportation spells like “Zoom” and “Evac,” which are vital for progressing through the game. The hero is also capable of wielding various weapons and armor, making it a vital class for any party compositions.

Warrior

The warrior job excels in physical strength rather than magical spells. With the ability to equip a range of formidable weapons and armor, warriors have the potential to be the main source of physical damage of the party. Their high maximum HP makes them an ideal choice for the front lines, providing defense while dealing decent physical damage.

Martial Artist

The martial artist role is known for its high speed and critical hit rate. Similar to warriors, they do not rely on spells, but they possess great potential as physical attackers. Their ability to act quicker than their enemies provides a significant advantage!

Mage

The mage job, equipped with a variety of powerful spells, compensates their physical weakness and unreliable melee attacks with an extensive array of magical capabilities. Their strong offensive and supportive spells make them an exceptional choice for defeating tough enemies and bosses.

Priest

The priest excels as a healer, mastering spells that significantly enhance the party’s survivability. Including at least one priest in the group can greatly ease the challenges of the adventure.

Thief

The thief is considered the strongest class in Dragon Quest III. Their greatest strength is their high speed, allowing them to act before anyone else. In addition, their “Steal” ability increases the chances of obtaining items from enemies, making them one of the best jobs for any party compositions.

Merchant

The merchant is a class you must include in your party if you wish to earn more gold. Their stats are suited for frontlines, and they can serve as decent physical damage dealers as well. One of their special abilities allows you to gain extra gold after a battle, making this a recommended class for those who are farming gold.

Gadabout

The gadabout is the only job capable of being promoted into a Sage without the need for a Book of Enlightenment. Despite their tendency to disregard commands and act on their own, rendering them somewhat unreliable in battle, their cost-free transition to Sages remains a unique feature. Investing in this job will prove useful for the later parts of the game.

Sage

The sage job cannot be recruited at Luida’s Tavern. It can only be acquired by using a Book of Enlightenment or by promoting a gadabout. Sages have the ability to learn all spells from both the Mage and the Priest classes, making them a vital class for the late game.
