Maw of the Necrogond Walkthrough (Part 1)

Recommended Level: 32
1 This walkthrough section covers the volcano area to the Maw of Necrogond entrance.
2 From Asham, sail south and continue north at the river’s junction. After reaching the fork, head south to arrive at volcano.
3 Use the Mountaincleaver in front of the volcano. Doing so causes the volcano to erupt and open a path for you to proceed further south.
4 Follow the path to reach the Maw of the Necrogond (caves).

Use the Mountaincleaver to make a path.

The Mountaincleaver is required to open the path at the volcano that leads to the entrance to the Maw of the Necrogond. You can get this key item from the Shrine Jail by examining Simon’s body.

Maw of the Necrogond Walkthrough (Part 2)

Recommended Level: 32
1 This walkthrough section covers the Maw of Necrogond entrance up to the 2nd floor.
2 While exploring the 1st floor, be sure to open the three treasure chests there. Two of the chests contain two powerful pieces of gear which are the Thunderbolt Blade and the Spiked Armour.
3 Once you reach the 2nd floor, just head straight down. Don’t go to the right as this will cause you to get stuck in a looping zone.

Use the map to guide you through the dungeon.

Despite being considerably larger than most other dungeons, the Maw of the Necrogond can be cleared if you use the map to guide you.

Treasure chests are only found on the 1st floor.

To help you save time exploring, keep in mind that there are no treasure chests to be found on the 2nd floor. You only need to be diligent when going through the 1st.

Be wary of Wrytoise and Armful.

The Maw of the Necrogond is home to two powerful enemies which are the Wyrtoise and Armful.

Wyrtoise boasts very high defense and is resistant to spells. You can take it down by putting it to sleep using Snooze or lowering its defense with Sap.

The Armful, meanwhile, can attack twice in addition to paralyzing targets with its special skill Burning Breath (your party is wiped out if all have been afflicted with paralyze). Try using spells like Poof to instantly deal with this fearsome enemy.

Maw of the Necrogond Walkthrough (Part 3)

Recommended Level: 32
1 This walkthrough section covers the Maw of Necrogond 3rd and 4th floors.
2 Upon reaching the 3rd floor, head right and drop down into the hole.
3 Pick up the Mini Medal in the floor you land. Then, climb the stairs on the north side. Avoid the southern stairs which lead to a pitfall.
4 After climbing the stairs, continue along the path and go up the next set of stairs while avoiding more pitfalls along the way.
5 Upon reaching the 4th floor, use the map to navigate your way through it.
6 Upon exiting the Maw of the Necrogond, go east to the shrine.
7 Talk to the man at the shrine to get the Silver Orb. There is also a Mini Medal behind this man so grab it as well.

Collect the Mini Medals.

Mini Medals are found past the pitfall on the 3rd floor of the Maw of the Necrogond as well as behind the man at the shrine. These will be hard to get to later so pick them up now as much as possible.

Use the map to guide you on the 4th floor.

The 4th floor of the Maw of the Necrogond is quite complex if you just explore it by sight. It is recommended to use the map to guide you to the exit.
