With just a little more than a week before E3 2017 (Electronic Entertainment Expo 2017) kicks off (June 13, 2017), Ubisoft confirms that Far Cry 5 will be one of the main talking points during its UbiE3 press conference.
Game to Make Appearance at E3 2017
Far Cry 5 is one of gaming’s most anticipated titles and is the latest entry to the critically-acclaimed Far Cry franchise of first-person action shooters. The game is set in Montana where the protagonist, the Sheriff’s deputy, is tasked to investigate the activities of a mysterious cult called Eden’s Gate who are allegedly responsible for the murders and disappearances of many residents in Hope County.
Ubisoft’s UbiE3 press conference event will take place on June 12 at the Orpheum Theatre in California. The company is set to give more details on the game currently in development alongside its other upcoming titles. Among other information expected to be to be discussed alongside Far Cry 5 during the company’s forum are news and updates on South Park: The Fractured But Whole and Assassin’s Creed Origins.
Below is Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot’s statement regarding Ubisoft’s E3 2017 appearance.
“E3 is truly a moment of excitement and pride, not just for Ubisoft but for our entire industry. Ultimately, Ubisoft’s games are the result of the collective efforts of our talented teams from all around the world, collaboration with the biggest names in entertainment, and contributions from the players themselves. That’s why we can’t wait for the thousands of fans at this year’s E3 – and the millions watching from home – to discover our unique take on creating game worlds and the action-packed line-up we have in store for them.”

Far Cry 5 marks an interesting turn in terms of the game’s main setting, which will not be in an exotic location characteristic of past games in the franchise. For the first time, Far Cry 5 will be set in America, in an environment with modern-day characters, technology and issues.
Towards the release of the game’s trailer, Far Cry 5 has found itself embroiled in controversy through its portrayal of the fictional town of Hope County in Montana. The game has even been the target of a petition by a group called Gamers United that demands changes to the game’s antagonistic group Eden’s Gate, as well as changing the setting to Canada instead of America. It has not been confirmed whether the group is pursuing a legitimate petition or otherwise only trolling.
