Defending Guide
Isolate the Ball Handler
The ball handler will be the one possessing the ball. You need to take the ball from him but he can prevent that by passing to his teammates. So you need to isolate him and pressure him enough that he will slowly lose control over the ball. When he is isolated, he will have less and less options on what to do and where to proceed as he will lose vision over his allies and his routes.
Cut Off His Routes
When he is isolated, he will try to go to different routes to try to shake you and your teammates off. Block his routes beforehand so you can prevent him from getting a foothold. This will also prevent him from having options to take and will place him in even greater pressure.
Block His Allies
His allies will obviously help him from being cornered so you need to block his allies while your teammates are busy isolating him. This will prevent him from passing and will have less and less options on what to do next.
Guarding the Goal
When your opponents are that good and they have made it past all of your defense despite your best efforts, it will all be down to guarding the goal. To guard the goal that is very big against a small ball would be quite difficult. You need to plan ahead and predict your enemy’s next move. Try to see where he’s angling and where he’s going to aim. You could also deceive him by tricking him into thinking that you are guarding this certain position and leaving the other side open, with this, you can easily catch him off guard and prevent the ball from entering the goal.
