Goalkeeping Guide

Goalkeeping is one of the best defenses a player has on the field. If you want to win, you’ll need to defend that goal with your life. Having a defense is good but it’s going to be pointless if the goalkeeper can’t even run after the ball. With that, goalkeeping requires a variety of attributes such as speed, agility, and stamina to keep up with the shots coming from other players. Looking forward to building a good goalkeeper? Here are some tips and tricks to building a goalkeeper.

Setting the proper height and weight

Goalkeeping needs speed and endurance. Also, with the variety of shots incoming, the player needs someone who is acrobatic enough to catch the ball. In this case, players would suggest running a minimum height of 6’5 on players with a weight of 200 lbs. This can be seen in the set-up page especially if the player will choose what kind of style the goalkeeper will be playing.

Keep your goalkeeper at the ready

Hitting the shoulder buttons (L1 for PS4; Xbox has LB) will have the goalkeeper sprinting left and right. This will have him guard the goal, leaving less room for the opponents to exploit. Pressing the button also allows the player to re-position as a goalkeeper.

Choose your situations carefully

Some players choose to hang back and let the defender deal with it. Or, they also choose to confront the attacking player one-on-one. Using the Y button or Triangle Button for the PS4, players would hang back and wait for the ball to come to them. However, there are other times that player would either use X/B for Xbox and Square or Circle for PS4 to block the incoming ball especially when they approach the ball.
