League of Legends - Team and Player Profiles: NA LCS – 2017 LoL World Championship

This article contains the different League of Legends NA LCS teams competing in this years Worlds 2017, including the biography of each players.

After the conclusion of the NA LCS, three teams will now be facing other teams all across the world for the most awaited Summoner’s Cup. No other North American team has reached the final stages of Worlds, will this year’s results stay the same or will we see the first ever North American champion? Let’s look at the three North American Teams who will be going to Guangzhou for Worlds 2017!

Team SoloMid

Team SoloMid is considered to be the biggest League of Legends teams in North America. With one of the most passionate fanbase in the world and players who have their own fair share of celebrity status, TSM is considered to be one of the  crowd-favorites coming to the Worlds 2017.

TSM started out in 2011 by brothers Andy Dinh and Dan Dinh. The name Team Solomid was derived from their community site Solomid.net. TSM was one of the first teams to participate in the Season 1 tournament of League of Legends. Now, they are considered to be the frontrunners in NA LCS, winning both the summer and spring splits this season.

Team SoloMid’s NA LCS Starting Team

One of the most notable players in this team is Doublelift. Doublelift, real name Yillian Peng, is TSM’s ADC. Doublelift is hailed to be the best ADC in North America, and possibly one of the best in the world. He is known for his mechanics, often outplaying enemies in 2v1 situations. He was a former ADC of Counter-Logic for a long before switching to TSM, CLG’S long-time rival.

Bjergsen is considered to be a superstar League of Legends player in North America as well. Bjergsen is the mid lane and is widely known to be the best mid laners in NA LCS. He is also sometimes compared to Faker, who is the undisputed best player in the world right now. He frequently uses Syndra and Zed in solo queue and competitive play.

Biofrost is one of the newest addition to TSM’s roster. He was discovered through a tryout in Korea after Yellowstar left TSM to return to the EU LCS scene. He showed great promise in the last split, winning the Rookie of the year award.

Their jungler is Svenskeren. Svenskeren started out in TSM last 2015, where he stole a Baron as Gragas against LGD. He is hailed to be a versatile jungler, having a large champion pool such as Gragas, Rek’Sai, and Nidalee.

Lastly, Hauntzer is their top laner. Hauntzer started playing for TSM last 2015, replacing Dyrus when he retired. Hauntzer is known to play a lot of Shen, Gnar, and Maokai in the game.

Immortals

Immortals came in the spotlight after acquiring the NA LCS spot of Team 8 for the 2016 NA LCS Spring Split. This team is known to be one of the best in the regular season last season, gathering a 17-1 and 16-2 in the spring and summer split last season. They also finished second this year’s summer split, earning them the title of one of the best rising teams in North America today.

Immortals NA LCS Starting Team

Pobelter is the mid laner of Immortals, the only remaining original member of the team of the 2016 roster. He was the former mid laner of CLG before being dropped by the team. He is also a famous streamer, often reaching challenger on multiple accounts on stream.

Cody Sun is a fresh face of the NA LCS. He is previously known as Massacre and TM8 before joining Immortals. He received a lot of criticism when he joined Immortals, getting a lot of doubts on whether he can prove himself in the highly competitive NA LCS. Immortals qualifying for Worlds solidified his name in the local scene.

The former CLG jungler Xmithie is now serving as the jungler for Immortals. He started in the pro scene since 2012 when he played for APictureOfAGoose. Xmithie served CLG for 3 seasons after switching to Immortals. He is known for his Rek’Sai and Elise.

Coming in at top lane is none other than Flame. Flame, formerly called Goldtec, is a top laner who rose to fame when performend tremendously well when he was in Blaze. He had no intentions of being a professional player at first, but found the opportunity when he was accepted in an offline tryout.

Olleh is their support. He is known as the reincarnation of BunnyFufu after tremendous plays in the summer split with Thresh which earned them the slot for Worlds 2017. He had a lot of teams before joining Immortals such as KT Rolster, PaIN Gaming, and Hong Kong Esports.

 Cloud9

Cloud9 is a North American team that’s also considered as one of the dominant teams in North America. The team always represented North America in every Worlds since 2013. They were also the first North American team to make it out of group stage in last years Worlds. Now, they have a chance to once more try and continue their winning ways, maybe even snatching the coveted Summoner’s Cup this year. The team had its humble beginnings, as it started out as Orbit Gaming and eventually Quantic Gaming.

Cloud9 NA LCS Starting Team

Probably the most known player in Cloud9 is Sneaky. He is known for his crazy antics in Twitch, earning him praises and a huge fan base in the process. He is a frequent Ashe player, often picking her even in situations where she might not be the perfect fit. Despite this, Sneaky still has a successful ADC career.

One of the best NA mid laners, Jensen, also plays for C9. Jensen is considered to be a very aggressive mid laner, having the higest KDA ratio in NA LCS. He also has the second highest kill participation at 79%. He was also voted as the NA All-Pro mid laner.

Their new jungler, Contractz, is one of the rising stars of NA LCS. He is a very strong offensive jungler that often counter jungles and provides decent support in all of the lanes. He replaced Meteos in the lineup, and Contractz has been receiving a lot of praise ever since.

Cloud9’s top laner is Impact. He was a former support player who moved to playing top lane for Cloud9. He was known as a very strong top laner, getting solo kills in last year’s Worlds. His performance last year in Worlds gave him a strong foundation for 2017, obtaining a ton of in-game knowledge and mechanics along the way.

Finally, the support of Cloud9 is Smoothie. Smoothie originally played for Team Liquid and their challenger team before switching to Cloud9. He is known to be a very safe support, prioritizing objectives and protecting his team mates more than anything.
