Strategy
- Coordinate with your teammates to ward the opposing jungle. This way, you can determine where the enemy jungler is and you can counter-jungle accordingly.
- He is exceptional in eliminating single targets. Take note which lane needs a gank and communicate with your laner to lure their opposing champion for a quick kill.
- Be wary when you jump into enemies each time you hit (Q) Sonic Wave – they can use your (Q) Resonating Strike to your disadvantage (i.e. going behind their Crowd-Control allies or their tower to punish you).
- Cast (W) Safeguard on your allied champions to shield them from damage. During team fights, you can cast (W) Safeguard into an ally to cast (W) Iron Will, which grants you lifesteal and spell vamp when you damage opponents.
- You can cast (W) Safeguard on allied wards to position yourself behind opponents to hit them back to your team with your (R) Dragon’s Rage.
- Use (E) Cripple after you hit enemies with (E) Tempest to slow multiple enemies when you’re in the fray during clashes. (E) Tempest + (E) Cripple can also reveal invisible champions.
- (R) Dragon’s Rage can knock up enemy champions who are in the way of your initial target.

Tracker’s Knife: Warrior Enchantment | The Black Cleaver | Ninja Tabi |
Tracker’s Knife: Warrior Enchantment – The active on this item allows you to create wards which is good for ward hopping. The warrior enchantment gives him more damage and is better compared to Cinderhulk enchantment.
The Black Cleaver – The Black Cleaver gives him more damage and health. The Black Cleaver also sheds armor and increases your movement speed when you damage an enemy champion, giving you more offensive presence in team fights.
Ninja Tabi – Ninja Tabi gives decent armor and damage reduction from basic attacks. This boots upgrade may be replaced with other upgrades, but this particular boots is strong on Lee Sin sincehe really likes to be close to his enemies and denying them maximum with their auto attacks helps a lot in trades and team fights.

Tracker’s Knife: Warrior Enchantment | The Black Cleaver | Dead Man’s Plate |
Maw of Malmortius | Ninja Tabi | Guardian Angel |
Dead Man’s Plate – Dead Man’s Plate increases his presence in the jungle as the item gives him extra movement speed. He can also slow them if the stacks in the passive are full, which is very important since he doesn’t have much crowd control except for his ultimate.
Maw of Malmortius – Maw of Malmortius compliments Lee Sin since it gives him more protection with the Lifeline passive that grants him a shield that absorbs magic damage. Maw also gives him attack damage and magic resistance which can help in enemy teams that have a lot of AP champions.
Guardian Angel – Guardian Angel now gives extra damage in the stats, making it a good buy for Lee Sin. The passive is also very helpful especially in the late game where every kill and deaths matter.

Thornmail | Mercury’s Treads | Adaptive Helm |
Randuin’s Omen | Gargoyle Stoneplate |
Thornmail – Take this item if the enemy team has a lot of physical damage. This item is also strong right now in the recent patch with the addition of Grievous Wounds in the passive.
Mercury’s Treads – This boots upgrade is best if the enemy team’s composition consists of hard crowd controls and slows.
Adaptive Helm – Adaptive Helm is great against enemies with a lot of AP that has damage overtime effects such as Rumble’s The Equalizer or Katarina’s Death Lotus. This item is also a must if their main damage dealers have a low cooldowns.
Randuin’s Omen – Randuin’s Omen gives you a lot of armor and health. Aside from that, it also has an active that can slow enemies around you, allowing you to either escape them or catch them.
Gargoyle Stoneplate – If you want to assume as the frontline of your team, this item is a great buy. The active gives you a lot of health especially when you are near 3 or more enemies.
Playing Against
- Lee Sin is relatively squishy during the early game. Coordinate with your team to take him out or disrupt his jungling path, delaying his ability to buy his core items and leveling up.
- If Lee sin hits you with his (Q) Sonic Wave, stay behind your allies who can disable him. This will make him think twice if he will follow up with (Q) Resonating Strike.
- It is highly advisable to ward your choke points and brushes to thwart any chance of a him ganking.
- When Lee Sin decides to initiate, he will target high priority champions such as your team’s carries. It is best to stick close to your carry and do your best to disable Lee Sin, otherwise he can send your carry hurtling towards his team with a well-placed (R) Dragon’s Rage.
- Lee Sin is a very elusive champion, provided he has wards and allies he can jump to with (W) Safeguard. It is best to check and remove any enemy wards to limit his mobility.
- Take note of what he is building – if he goes for a more damage-centered build, he will be relatively squishy and susceptible to being killed via focus fire.
Hard Counter
- Riven – Riven still can reach him for the kill even though he has been kicked or escaped with Blade of the Exile. Riven can also hop through walls with Broken Wings, catching LS even if he ward hops away from a wall.
- Pantheon – Pantheon is a strong champion in the early game. He can harass with the combination of Spear Shot and Heartseeker’s Strike. Pantheon’s Aegis of Zeonia and Aegis of Protection also makes it hard for Lee Sin to deal damage to Pantheon.
- Trundle – Trundle has a ton of sustain in the lane or in the jungle. Lee sin is very agile, but can’t face Trundle head-on. Trundle can just use Chomp and Subjugate to destroy him.
- Udyr – Same with Trundle, Udyr cannot trade with Udyr easily. Udyr’s Stances will make it harder for Lee Sin to deal a considerable amount of damage without taking one himself.
