The duration of the slow increases based on how far the Tidal Wave has traveled, with a minimum duration of 2 seconds and a maximum of 4 seconds.Allies hit by the wave gain double the effect of Surging Tides.

Strategy

  • Always cast your (E) Tidecaller’s Blessing on the ADC or your allies who have a strong attack damage.
  • Always time your (Q) Aqua Prison when engaging because it has a very small cast range.
  • Spam (W) Ebb and Flow because it can heal your allies while damaging enemy champions as well. It also pays when there are enemy champions nearby to maximize its effect.
  • (R) Tidal Wave is a powerful skill, but requires good positioning and timing to be effective. Try to use your ultimate when the enemy is huddled together and are applied crowd control.
  • Nami has also good mobility because of her passive Surging Tides. Keep on moving when you successfully land a skill.

Ionian Boots of Lucidity

Frost Queen’s Claim – This is a good gold income item for Nami since she can finish the quest faster compared to other gold income items. She can harass with her (W) Ebb and Flow and even hit a few (Q) Aqua Prison. The slow also gives her more chance to hit (Q) Aqua Prison and (R) Tidal Wave since these skills require timing and precision to hit because of how slow it is.

Redemption – Redemption is currently one of the best items that a support can have because it gives off amazing stats and regeneration that every support should have. The added health and mana regeneration really helps in mid-late game. However, the active is the best part about this item since it can heal your allies or damage your enemies in a very large AoE. It also increases your healing and shielding power, which synergize well with (W) Ebbs and Flow.

Ionian Boots of Lucidity – Ionian Boots of Lucidity is the preferred item for Nami instead of Sorcerer’s Shoes because Nami doesn’t rely much on dealing damage and magic penetration won’t help that much since she is more of a utility support.

Locket of the Iron Solari – Locket of the Iron Solari grants Nami armor and magic resistance. The active also helps a lot in team fights, as it grants every allies near you a decaying shield based on your level and health.

Ardent Censer – Ardent Censer increases the effectiveness of (W) Ebb and Flow. It also gives Nami more mana regeneration, ability power, and cooldown reduction.

Athene’s Unholy Grail – This item gives you decent stats as a support champion, also, both the passive synergize well with your kit.

Situational Items

Frozen Heart Icon Athene's Unholy Grail Icon Zeke's Convergence Icon
Frozen Heart Athene’s Unholy Grail Zeke’s Convergence

Frozen Heart – Frozen Heart is a good item for Nami if the enemy team has a lot of champions that relies on attack speed and auto-attacks.

Zeke’s Convergence – Get this item if you trust your ADC to carry the team in team fights. The only problem with this item is that it is more compatible with tanky supports since getting a Solari or redemption is a better option for Nami.

Playing Against

  • Nami’s Ultimate (R) Tidal Wave is a slow moving crowd control that can easily be avoided. Don’t stick with your team if you think Nami will use her ultimate.
  • Nami is vulnerable when her (Q) Aqua Prison. It can also be avoided easily because it has a very small cast area.
  • Be careful when dealing with an ADC with the (E) Tidecaller’s Blessing effect because he will deal more damage and slow you.
  • Focusing on Nami first can increase your chances of winning in a team fight since Nami is one of the top peeler supports in the game.
  • She is also a very squishy champion that can easily be killed if crowd controlled or engaged.

Hard Counters

Blitzcrank – Blitzcrank can easily destroy her in the laning phase, given he lands the hooks. Blitzcrank’s Rocket Grab can pull Nami towards the enemies, and the additional Powerfist and Static Field will kill Nami before she even cast a skill.

Lulu – Lulu is also a champion that is a good peeler and has little offensive skills in her kit. Although not a real counter in a sense that she can kill her, Lulu can make her ADC survive the onslaught of any the Tidecaller’s kit.

Leona – Leona has a kit that can stick to Nami whatever she do. Leona usually can all-in a lane at the early stages of the laning phase, giving Nami a hard time in sustaining and poking their enemy. With a lot of crowd control in Leona’s arsenal, Nami won’t have a chance after level 6.
