Icon Description
Living Forge & Master Craftsman (DISABLE TIME: 4)

INNATE: Ornn can purchase non-consumable items from anywhere on the field by forging them himself, and is also presented a Forge Menu with his recommended items to select to be forged. Forging takes 4 seconds and the process is interrupted if Ornn enters combat, disabling Living Forge.

Additionally, Ornn and each of his teammates can purchase MASTERWORK upgrades. Each player may only have one MASTERWORK upgrade at a time. Unlocks when Ornn reaches level 13.

BRITTLE:  Bellows Breath’s final flame and  Call of the Forge God apply Brittle to enemies for 6 seconds. Ornn’s next basic attack against a Brittle target consumes the mark, briefly  knocks them back.

The next immobilizing effect against a Brittle target consumes the mark, dealing 7% – 16% (based on level) of target’s maximum health as bonus magic damage and lasting 30% longer.

Volcanic Rupture

(TARGET RANGE: 800 COST: 55 MANA COOLDOWN: 9/8.5 /8 /7.5 /7 SLOW: 40 /45 /50/55 /60%)

ACTIVE: Ornn slams his hammer into the ground, sending a fissure in the target direction that stops early if an enemy champion is hit, dealing 20 /50 /80 /110 /140 (+ 100% AD) physical damage and  slowing enemies hit for 2 seconds.

After a 1.5-seconds delay, an impassable magma pillar erupts at maximum range for 4 seconds.

Bellows Breath

(TARGET RANGE: 400 COST: 45/50 /55 /60/65 MANA COOLDOWN: 12 /11 /10 /9 /8  DAMAGE PER INSTANCE: 2.5/2.92/3.33/3.75/4.17% of target’s current health)

ACTIVE: Ornn shields himself for 12% of maximum health for 4 seconds and marches unstoppably in the target direction over the next 2.5 seconds.

Over the march he belches fire over a cone in front of him, dealing magic damage every 0.5 seconds to enemies hit. The final bout of flame will apply Brittle.

Searing Charge

(TARGET RANGE: 800 EFFECT RADIUS: 350 COST: 50 MANA COOLDOWN: 16 /15 /14 /13 /12)

ACTIVE: Ornn charges forward, dealing 20 / 40 / 60 / 80 / 100 (+ 30% armor) (+ 30% magic resistance) physical damage to enemies he passes through, stopping upon colliding with terrain.

If Ornn collides with terrain while charging he creates a shockwave that deals 40 / 80 / 120 / 160 / 200 (+ 30% armor) (+ 30% magic resistance) increased physical damage and  knocks up enemies within for 1 second. Searing Charge can damage enemies twice.

Magma pillars and terrain created by enemy champions caught in the shockwave are destroyed.

Call of the Forge God

( TARGET RANGE: 2500 COST: 100 MANA COOLDOWN: 130/100/70 seconds)

FIRST CAST: Ornn summons an elemental at maximum range in the target direction that stampedes toward him, dealing 125 / 175 / 225 (+ 20% AP) magic damage and slowing enemies hit by 40% for 2 seconds.

While stampeding, Ornn can re-activate Call of the Forge God.

SECOND CAST: Ornn dashes forward in the target direction. If Ornn collides with the elemental, he headbutts it, sending it stampeding again in the new direction and empowering it to  knock up enemies hit. Call of the Forge God can damage enemies twice.

Strategy

  • He is a tanky bruiser who relies on getting up close and personal against enemies to deal good damage and apply Brittle on the opposition with (W) Bellows Breath.
  • Position yourself on terrain and walls to have your (E) Searing Charge to pin down and knock up your opponent. You can also use (Q) Volcanic Rupture‘s magma pillar to have terrain you can collide with during the laning phase.
  • Once you’ve pinned down an enemy with your (Q) Volcanic Rupture + (E) Searing Charge combo, follow it up with (W) Bellows Breath to apply the Brittle (passive) debuff on them. This will make immobilizing effects such as stuns and slows last longer.
  • (E) Searing Charge‘s knock up also works on player-made terrain and walls such as Jarvan IV’s Cataclysm, Anivia’s Crystallize and Azir’s Emperor’s Divide.
  • Remember to hit the charging ram when you cast (R) Call of the Forge God. This will knock up enemies who were hit with the ram the first time.
  • Remind your allies to get one of your upgraded items if they have money to spend. The upgraded items give most of your allies’ core items more potency especially in the latter stages of the game where the opposition is item-locked.

Core Items

Forgefire Cape Abyssal Mask Righteous Glory

Forgefire Cape – Forgefire Cape is the upgraded form of Sunfire Cape. This item adds tankiness in the form of bonus health and armor. Forgefire Cape also deals more damage to enemy minions and monsters, allowing him to push the lanes faster and provide lane pressure. Forgefire Cape is also the essential Ornn build as it gives him immense early game powerspike.

Abyssal Mask – Abyssal Mask gives tankiness against mages. It gives good bonus health, mana and magic resistance stats, allowing Ornn to soak some magic damage. Its aura also helps his teammates to deal more magic damage during clashes.

Righteous Glory – Righteous Glory is a good initiating item for Ornn. It has good health, mana, armor and cooldown reduction stats which allow Ornn to get into the fray and deal the most damage and crowd control against the opposing team.

Ninja tabi icon Knight's Vow Icon Zz'Rot Portal icon
Ninja Tabi Knight’s Vow Zz’Rot Portal

Ninja Tabi  Ninja Tabi is a good boots upgrade to get if your enemy laner or your enemy team predominantly deal physical damage. Subsequently, you can switch to Mercury’s Treads if the enemy team has strong Crowd Control skills to allow him some survivability during team fights.

Knight’s Vow – Knight’s Vow is a good item as it provides some defense for his team’s carry. It gives decent health, armor and cooldown stats, and lets Ornn cast its item skill on one of his allied carries. Once casted, he will shoulder some of the damage incurred by his tethered carry, as long as he is near them.

Zz’Rot Portal – Zz’Rot Portal grants Ornn additional lane pressure, thanks to its active item skill. It gives Ornn good armor and magic resistane stats which increases the damage of (E) Searing Charge.

Situational Items
Adaptive Helm Icon Iceborn Gauntlet Icon Randuins omen icon
Adaptive Helm Iceborn Gauntlet Randuin’s Omen
Warmogs armor icon Thornmail icon
Warmog’s Armor Thornmail Circlet of the Iron Solari

Adaptive Helm – A good item to get for enemy teams who rely on using magic damage and spamming skills, Adaptive Helm allows him to shoulder the brunt of magic damage casted by the opposition, thanks to its good magic resistance stats and passive that lessens the effectiveness of subsequent skill casts on its user.

Iceborn Gauntlet – Iceborn Gauntlet adds sticking power on enemy carries once he initiates team fights. It gives good armor stats and its passive skill grants additional damage to his auto attacks whenever he casts a skill prior to hitting an enemy.

Randuin’s Omen –  Randuin’s Omen is a good item to switch with Righteous Glory, especially when the enemy team comprises mainly auto attackers. It gives great armor and health stats, and its passive lowers the attack speed of enemy champions who hit Ornn. It also has an active skill that slows enemies who are near him for a short duration.

Warmog’s Armor – Warmog’s Armor gives him massive bonus health stats, as well as cooldown reduction and health regeneration. Getting this item allows Ornn to become a damage-soaking machine. However, take note if opponents start buying items that deal bonus damage against champions with high health such as Blade of the Ruined King, Mortal Reminder and Lord Dominik’s Regards, as these will rip through Warmog’s bonuses quickly.

Thornmail – To mitigate some of the auto attack damage, you may opt to buy Thornmail. It gives great bonus armor, as well as inflict Grievous Wounds on enemies who auto attack you. This is especially effective against champions (usually ADCs) who have lifesteal – Grievous Wounds decrease the effectiveness of heals and lifesteal of enemy champions.

Circlet of the Iron Solari  Another one of Ornn’s hand-forged items, Circlet of the Iron Solari is a nice utility item for Ornn. It gives good armor and magic resistance, as well as it allows Ornn to cast a shield on his team during team fights. Since most of the time Ornn needs to stack health items, Circlet of the Iron Solari will have greater shield strength because it scales off its user’s health. That said, you should coordinate with your team if they will get Locket of the Iron Solari, as each teammate including Ornn can only have one Forged item on their kit per game.

Playing Against

  • Do your best to steer clear of terrain and walls, as he can disable you with his (E) Searing Charge and severely hurt you with (W) Bellows Breath.
  • Once Ornn casts (Q) Volcanic Rupture, do not stand close or near the magma pillar. Ornn can use it to knock you up with (E) Searing Charge.
  • Try to bait him into using his (W) Bellows Breath early, since this is his most damaging skill. Once he commits to a fight and uses it, do your best to avoid being caught in its area, otherwise, you stand the risk of being inflicted with the Brittle (passive) debuff.
  • Avoid getting hit by (R) Call of the Forge God. The first hit will slow you down and the second hit will knock you up.

Hard Counter

  • Poppy – In the hands of a good player, Poppy can out-trade Ornn during the laning phase. She can use  Magma Pillar to pin down Ornn with Heroic Charge. She can also use Heroic Charge to displace Ornn from hitting the second cast of Call of the Forge God.
