Strategy
- Friend of the Forest allows Ivern to be very versatile when jungling, giving him the freedom to counter jungle easily without much punishment. Try to invade the enemy jungle as much as possible and apply pressure so that the enemy will be forced to play under your control.
- Aside from starting a team fight, (Q) Rootcaller can also be used to escape by activating on creeps or neutral monsters and quickly dashing on them.
- Use (W) Brushmaker when you want to limit the enemy’s vision when you are securing Baron and/or Dragon. It gives the enemy a hard time counter-attacking since you they have limited vision of what’s happening. Also, it gives Ivern the ability to attack in long range.
- (E) Triggerseed can be activated on (R) Daisy to give her more tankiness and offensive presence in the frontline.
- Make sure to micro-manage (R) Daisy because she is somewhat clunky to use. Be sure to always put her in front of a teamfight so she can soak damage while trying to apply crowd control to enemy units.

Tracker’s Knife: Cinderhulk | Locket of the Iron Solari | Redemption |
Ardent Censer |
Tracker’s Knife: Cinderhulk – Ivern is a support jungler who needs to tank enemy damage during clashes. Getting the Cinderhulk upgrade for his jungle item gives him bonus health, health regeneration and a damaging aura against enemies which comes in handy in team fights.
Locket of the Iron Solari – Ivern’s primary support item, Locket of the Iron Solari gives Ivern bonus armor and magic resistance. More importantly, this item grants Ivern an active item skill that casts a protective shield to himself and his allies that scales based on Ivern’s health.
Redemption – Sticking to his support role, Ivern’s next core item is Redemption. This item gives him the ability to heal his allies each time he casts Redemption’s skill in clashes.
Ardent Censer – Since Ivern has a skill that shields an ally, getting Ardent Censer is a good option. It grants bonus attack speed and flat lifesteal to any champion who is shielded or healed by a player who has this item in his or her inventory.

Ardent Censer | Athene’s Unholy Grail | Ionian Boots of Lucidity |
Athene’s Unholy Grail – Getting this item further increases your shields and heals. Athene’s Holy Grail also gives decent mana regeneration, Ability Power and cooldown reduction stats to help you use your skills more frequently.
Ionian Boots of Lucidity – A standard boots upgrade for support champions, Ionian Boots of Lucidity grants him good cooldown reduction. This allows him to have his shields and stuns at the ready.

Zz’Rot Portal | Mejai’s Soulstealer | Banner of Command |
Rylai’s Crystal Scepter | Gargoyle Stoneplate |
Zz’Rot Portal – Getting Zz’Rot Portal increases Ivern’s pushing pressure. This item gives good armor and magic resistance, and its active skill allows him to place a portal on a lane that summons voidlings that attack turrets and enemy minions they encounter.
Mejai’s Soulstealer – Since Ivern’s skills scale with Ability Power, you can opt to get Mejai’s Soulstealer if your game is really going well. It gives great Ability Power stats that stack up to a certain point, based on kills and assists. Given that Ivern gets a lot of assists thanks to his shields and set ups, you can get most, if not all, of the 25 stacks in no time. Just be careful of dying, as you will lose a significant number of your stacks.
Banner of Command – Another alternative to Zz’Rot Portal, Banner of Command gives Ivern lane pressure. This item gives Ivern the ability to promote an allied minion that will deal bonus damage and gain a shield while it marches toward the enemy turret. Any minion it kills will net Ivern bonus gold.
Rylai’s Crystal Scepter – If you want your skills to have some added utility, get Rylai’s Crystal Scepter. It gives good health and Ability Power stats, and grants Ivern’s damaging skills an additional slow debuff on enemies.
Gargoyle Stoneplate – If your support playstyle is a more straight-up damage-soaking approach, you can get Gargoyle Stoneplate. This item gives good armor and magic resistance, and its active skills grants you significant bonus health when you’re in the midst of more than 2 enemies.
Playing Against
- Playing against Ivern when you are the opposing jungle requires you to be always aware of the map. Ward your jungle as much as possible as Ivern is a strong jungle invader because of his passive Friend of the Forest.
- (Q) Root Caller has a very thin cast range and a slow moving animation. You can easily avoid this by moving to the side when he casts it on you.
- (W) Brushmaker is just like any other brush. You can take advantage of it by warding it or even pushing Ivern and his allies away from the brushes.
- Get away from enemies who have (E) Triggerseed since it can also deal damage and slow you. Ivern will spam this on his allies at later levels since it has a very low cooldown, so focusing on him is a good tactic if you want to have less peel from him in team fights.
- Do not understimate (R) Daisy as she can be a force to reckon with in the front line. Ivern will most likely put (E) Triggerseed on (R) Daisy, so kill her as early as possible before she can stomp your team and soak all of the damage.
Hard Counters
- Rengar – Rengar is proficient at counter-jungling, and can burst down Ivern if they ever cross paths in the jungling phase. He has strong one-on-one damage with Savagery and Bola Strike to quickly dispatch Ivern. He can also remove any debuff or crowd control with an empowered Battle Roar.
- Kha’Zix – Similar to Rengar, Kha’Zix excels in hunting down single targets. He can quickly dive in and eliminate Ivern when they encounter each other in the jungle with Taste Their Fear and Void Spike. He can then catch up to him with Leap and escape with Void Assault.
- Xin Zhao – Xin Zhao is capable of punishing Ivern for invading his jungle. His Three-Talon Strike can rend through his defenses and his Audacious Charge allows him to stick to him until he gets eliminated.
