Metal Gear Survive has not had the warmest welcome from fans of the tactical espionage games since it came to light at Gamescom’s 2016 event. The series’ massive following was quick to brush off the upcoming title as “generic”, with its foray into the multiplayer zombie survival category not bringing real innovation to the beloved franchise. On the road to TGS 2017, Konami hopes to alter the course of common opinion with a Metal Gear Survive playable demo during the event.

Metal Gear Survive Playable Demo

Announced in its lineup of presentations for one of Japan’s biggest video games events, the Metal Gear Survive playable demo will allow show-goers a taste of its four-player co-op mode with two stages. Players will also be able to choose from different difficulties levels to test the extent of challenge offered by the game.

Metal Gear Survive will feature an open-world style of gameplay, as laudably executed by Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes and The Phantom released in 2014 and 2015 respectively. The events of the game take place in the unaccounted period between those two games. Metal Gear Survive‘s story begins during the siege of Mother Base, when a wormhole in the sky opens and pulls in the remnant forces of the Militaires Sans Frontieres. They are transported into an alternate reality where they must fend off crystalline zombies called “creatures” while finding a way back to their own world. With the Metal Gear Survive playable demo being announced, there’s bound to be more detail and insight into the upcoming title’s gameplay, story and design.

The Metal Gear Survive playabe demo is just one of Konami’s attractions during the 2017 TGS event. Among the other talking points the company will focus on are 100% Pascal Sensei: Perfect Pain Bombers (3DS), Jikkyou Powerful Pro Baseball Championship 2017 (PS3, PS4, PS Vita), Pro Evolution Soccer 2018 (PS3, PS4) and Super Bomberman R (Nintendo Switch).
