Assassins Creed Origins Dev Reveals The Order of the Ancients
Narrative Director Mathew Zagurak reveals snippets and details about The Order of the Ancients. In the game lore, the Order of the Ancients are composed of powerful men and women that would manipulate behind the scenes. They are a mixture of nobles and common folk who believe that they are instruments of the First Will. Assassins Creed The Order of the Ancients however serves a template for what players then know as the Templars in the later games.
Who exactly are the Order of the Ancients?
However, unlike the templars, they are still a budding society. As Bayek of Siwa, the players must discover what the Order is planning. Having powerful people that can manipulate economics and war plans may cause problems for the civilization of Egypt. Because of this, these are the people who actively counsel Pharoah Ptolemy XIII. However, Bayek and Aya are the proto-assassins, the Order of Ancients may not necessarily be the proto-templars. According to Matthew Zagurak, he also says that players may be able to see slight similarities between the Templars and the Order of the Ancients. The ironic part is that because of them being secretive, not many people know that the order is the one that decides everything for them. At the same time, they all believe that they are “instruments of the first will”.
But things got a little juicy when asked about there being a leader. Matthew Zagurak grins and keeps mum about it, saying that “revealing the leader will spoil the plot” of Assassins Creed Origins.
Who are the Ancients these members worship?
The Ancients the order speaks of are commonly known as “The Ones Who Came Before”. For those who have played the earlier games, these characters include Juno and Minerva. Minerva appears as Desmond Miles’ guide and Juno also appears to the other assassins. Aside from being the Ancients, they also go by the name Isu, the creators of the Apple of Eden. However, only the Roman names of the gods have appeared. There’s not much information that even the Egyptian gods such as Osiris, Anubis, and Isis are also part of the Isu Race.
While we’re not sure if the Ancients will play a bigger role in Assassins Creed Origins, we can only find out when Assassins Creed Origins comes out.
