Strategy
- You can also use (Q) Duskbringer not as an initiation tool, but also to disengage as well, since it gives you extra movement speed and the ability to move through units.
- Do not use (W) Shroud of Darkness at the start of a team fight, instead, use it during the team fight if the enemy with the most crowd controls engage on you.
- (E) Unspeakable Horror can also be used on neutral monsters.
- (R) Paranoia is best use against squishy champions who are alone in a lane or have low health.
- In some situations, use (R) Paranoia for the reduction of vision even if you can’t join a team fight. When you are far away and a team fight ensues at the opposite side of the map, using (R) Paranoia can help your team in the clash.

Skirmisher’s Sabre: Warrior | Duskblade of Drakkthar | Ravenous Hydra |
Mercury’s Treads |
Skirmisher’s Sabre: Warrior – Skirmisher’s Sabre is the essential jungle item along with the warrior enchantment. Skirmisher’s Sabre allows him to deal true damage for 3 seconds with his basic attacks. The warrior enchantment also increases his attack damage and cooldown reduction, making him a formidable foe in the jungle.
Duskblade of Drakkthar – Duksblade is one of the best items as it gives him lethality, attack damage, and cooldown which he really needs to amplify his offensive skillset. The passives on this item are also very helpful especially the nightstalker passive which strengthens his power when ganking with (R) Paranoia. The blackout passive also helps you spot wards, letting you traverse your jungle and the enemy’s jungle with safety.
Ravenous Hydra – Ravenous Hydra fits really well with Nocturne’s kit as it increases his jungle clear while giving him sustain in the process. The lifesteal can also stack with his Umbra Blades, making him very strong at trading with enemies.
Mercury’s Treads – Mercury’s Treads increases his resistance against magic damage and reduces the duration of crowd controls as well. The latter is very helpful especially when you are chasing someone with (Q) Duskbringer.

Skirmisher’s Sabre – Warrior | Duskblade of Drakkthar | Ravenous Hydra |
Guardian Angel | Randuin’s Omen | Mercury’s Treads |
Guardian Angel – Guardian Angel is a perfect item for him since he is somewhat a glass cannon and the extra life can come handy in team fights. The extra attack damage also fits really well as it gives him more offensive capability.
Randuin’s Omen – Randuin is another great item as it gives him decent defensive stats while the active slows down enemies around you, giving you more options when initiating with (R) Paranoia or (Q) Duskbringer.

Edge of Night | The Black Cleaver | Sterak’s Gage |
Edge of Night – Edge of night is another good item for Nocturne if you think (W) Shroud of Darkness is not enough and the enemy has a lot of crowd control and finishers.
The Black Cleaver – Sterak’s Gage adds more flexibility and damage against Tanks and bulkier champions. The passive also lets him stick to his target more with the increased movement speed when hitting champions. This is a very good substitute for one of his cores if you think that your damage output is not enough because they are stacking armor.
Sterak’s Gage – Sterak’s Gage is also a good item if you want to go in front of a team fight and deal as much damage as possible without dying early or getting burst down. This item adds more base attack damage which is something that Nocturne really needs with his kit.
Playing Against
- Save your hard crowd controls when (W) Shroud of Darkness goes on cooldown since it only has a 1.5 seconds duration.
- You can see (Q) Duskbringer in the fog of war, so always look at objectives like Dragon and Baron Nashor when finding him.
- Always stick to your team mates when you have low life because Nocturne can swoop unto you with (R) Paranoia
- (E) Unspeakable Horror can be cancelled if you back away from the tether.
- Do not go in a lane by yourself when you are a squishy because he can gank you with (R) Paranoia
Hard Counters
- Udyr – Udyr is a very agile champion that possess a kit that can’t be countered by Nocturne. Udyr’s abilities are hard to track since it is only evident in his stance, which makes his Shroud of Darkness somewhat useless. Udyr can also outtrade Nocturne even with Nocturne’s abilities.
- Olaf – Olaf will have no problem with a Nocturne ganking him and fighting him in 1v1 situations because chances are Olaf has the necessary abilities to defeat him even when Nocturne has more health than him. Reckless Swing and Vicious Strikes are all what Olaf needs to win against Nocturne.
- Shyvana – Shyvana is also another champion that deals a lot of damage against Nocturne. Shyvana’s abilities are perfect against Nocturne since Shyvana excels at champions who want to be close to their enemies to deal damage, something that Shyvana is also good at.
