League of Legends - Team and Player Profiles: OPL – 2017 LoL World Championship

This post contains information about OPL's representative for this year's World Championships Play-In Stage, the LG Dire Wolves.

OPL’s Dire Wolves Represent Oceania in Play-In Stage

The OPL this season has seen an up and coming team defeat a long-standing club en route to their first crack at the World Championships via Play-In stage. The LG Dire Wolves bested Chief’s ESports Club in the recent OPL Summer Split, securing their spot for this year’s Worlds.

Coming off an impressive run which included clinching the championship for both OPL Spring and Summer Splits, as well as the Playoffs, LG Dire Wolves also represented Oceania during the 2017 MSI. After being so close to qualify but ultimately failing to do so, LG Dire Wolves now have a chance to make a name for their club as the best Oceania team in this year’s Play-In Stage.

Chippys mans the top lane for Dire Wolves. He is known for his knack of choosing carry and utility Top Laners such as Gnar, Jax and Camille to out-play, out-farm and outlast his lane opponents. Chippys is also the first Kiwi LoL player to reach the Korean Challenger tier.

shernfire plays Jungle for Dire Wolves. He began playing League of Legends back in Season 2, climbing up the ranks in Solo Queue until he joined Dire Wolves, where he was instrumental during their win against Chief’s ESports Club during the Playoffs. shernfire prefers setters and tanky champions such as Gragas, Zac and Elise for his junglers, all of whom pack various group and single-target disables for his team.

Phantiks is Dire Wolves Mid Laner and MVP during the OPL this season. He is notorious for his tendency to find the right champion to combat enemy team compositions, thanks to his deep pool of mid champions. After a serviceable showing back in the 2017 MSI, the Dire Wolves and Phantiks are sure to take what they have learned and apply it in this year’s World Championships.

k1ng takes the starting ADC role for Dire Wolves. He provides ample firepower with his Ashe, Caitlyn and Kog’Maw picks, where he showcased good mechanical know-how and aggressive ADC play.

Destiny fills out the Support role for Dire Wolves. He prefers to use defensive supports such as Braum, Taric and Lulu. However, he is also known to use Thresh if their team needs a playmaking support. Along with k1ng, Destiny provides good coverage in the Bot Lane.

Rippii rounds up the Dire Wolves’ roster. He is one of the original Dire Wolves, founding it back in 2014 alongside Magzilla, BEST AD, Charlie and Sharp. Rippii’s aggressive Jungling is well-documented, especially when he started as Dire Wolves Jungler back in the day. As shernfire’s Sub Jungler, he will provide the necessary support for his team.
