Strategy
- Twisted Fate can farm easily because of his Loaded Dice. Practice your last hitting, because you will always have a gold lead against the enemy laner even if you have the same creep score.
- Also, it’s effective if you harass the enemy laner with (W) Pick a Card because you can always regenerate your mana with a blue card.
- It’s more effective to visit a lane with an empowered (E) Stacked Deck and a (W) Pick a Card activated. This is more effective in surprising your enemies, especially with the gold card.
- You can also use your (R) Destiny to start a gank and teleport to enemies who are far away from his team mates. Be careful though, as your ultimate teleport has a long casting time.
- (R) Destiny can also reveal stealth champions.
- Twisted Fate abilities are combo depended as they are stronger when used at the same time. A good combo for Twisted fate would be the 4th attack of (E) Stacked Deck + Yellow (W) Pick Card + (Q) Wild Cards.

Summoner Spells
Mid Lane Option 1 | Mid Lane Option 2 | ||
---|---|---|---|
Barrier | Flash | Ghost | Flash |
Barrier – Barrier is usually the go-to summoner spell for Twisted Fate, as he has low mobility and is susceptible to burst damage.
Ghost – Pick this summoner spell if you want to be aggressive in lane. Having ghost as a summoner spell can also give you more kill potential and disengage because of the extra movement speed.

Core Items | ||
---|---|---|
Rod of Ages | Lich Bane | Sorcerer’s Shoes |
Rod of Ages – Rod of Ages is a very efficient item on almost all mages because of the stats it give. Catalyst of Aeons, a recipe item for Rod Ages, increases his sustain in the laning phase. After 10 minutes, this item will greatly boost all the stats that Twisted Fate needs such as health, mana, and ability power.
Lich Bane – Lich Bane is a very powerful item on Twisted as the activation of (W) Pick A Card can already activate the sheen passive. It will be more powerful if you time it with (E) Stacked Deck. It will basically give Twisted Fate an empowered attack every six seconds.
Sorcerer’s Shoes – Sorcerer’s Shoes increases the magic penetration of Twisted Fate while also increasing his movement speed.

Lich Bane | Hextech Protobelt-01 | Rabadon’s Deathcap |
Morellonomicon | Rod of Ages | Sorcerer’s Shoes |
Hextech Protobelt-01 – Hextech Protobelt-01 is a good initiation tool that can increase your kill potential with the active. The stats also give him more ability power and cooldown reduction which is an always welcome stat for Twisted Fate.
Morellonomicon – Morellonomicon increases Twisted Fate’s chance to kill enemy champions with low health as it deals grievous wounds which decreases their heals and regenerations. Aside from that, it also gives Twisted Fate mana, ability power, and cooldown reduction.
Rabadon’s Deathcap – Rabadon’s Deathcap greatly increases Twisted Fate’s ability power. It also amplifies his current ability power, making him a very strong one-shot AP champion.
Situational Items | ||
---|---|---|
Void Staff | Banshee’s Veil | Zhonya’s Hourglass |
Adaptive Helm |
Void Staff – Build Void staff if the enemy team stacked a lot of magic resistance item.
Banshee’s Veil – Banshee’s Veil is a good item for Twisted Fate if one enemy has a hard crowd control that exposes Twisted Fate to other enemies. A good example of this would be Blitzcrank’s or Thresh which have hooks that can catch Twisted Fate and give him no choice but to either fight or use his flash.
Zhonya’s Hourglass – This item is good because it gives Twisted Fate extra armor, AP, and the ability to be invulnerable for a period of time.
Adaptive Helm – Pick adaptive Helm if the enemy has a lot of low cooldown AP casters.
Playing Against
- (Q) Wild Cards is a slow moving skill that can easily be dodged.
- You can also see what Twisted Fate will cast with his (W) Pick a Card. Back away immediately if he uses the gold card because it might mean that an enemy jungler is nearby. Blue card also deals a lot of damage and gives Twisted fate extra mana so be careful.
- Try to harass and zone him in the lane because his passive Loaded Dice always grants Twisted extra gold when farming.
- Twisted Fate mostly relies on (R) Destiny to gank other lanes. Apply crowd control on him when you see him casting the port.
- Report immediately if Twisted Fate is missing in your lane. His (R) Destiny has a very high cast range and this could mean that he is getting ready for a gank.
- You can see an indicator in the ground to where he is teleporting. Stay away from there immediately and be careful because his (Q) Wild Cards might reach you.
Hard Counter
Fizz – Fizz is a great counter against Twisted Fate because he can negate Twisted Fate’s (W) Pick A Card with Playful/Trickster. Fizz’s Chum the Water can also catch Twisted Fate easily since Twisted Fate has no mobility to evade the ultimate.
Yasuo – Yasuo’s Windwall can stop Twisted Fate’s (Q) Wild Cards and (W) Pick a Card. He is also very mobile and can catch Twisted Fate using his Sweeping Blade. Lastly, Yasuo’s Last Breath can stop Twisted Fate’s Destiny.
Karthus – A good Karthus can easily dominate Twisted Fate in the laning phase. Karthus’ Lay Waste can harass Twisted Fate since he has no mobility. Also, Twisted Fate cannot escape Karthus even with his Destiny, as Karthus’ Requiem can still catch Twisted Fate anywhere on the map.
