Strategy
- Elise is exceptional in locking down and eliminating single targets. When ganking a lane or during clashes, make sure to stun the enemy champion with (E) Cocoon to allow your teammates to follow up with their skills.
- Take note when you should transform into your (R) Spider Form. Her ultimate will make your attacks melee, but you’ll gain access to Elise’s more single-target damaging skills; if you’re in her human form, your skills are more for disabling the enemy and setting up your teammates for ganks and clashes.
- (Q) Neurotoxin is a good ranged harassing skill, since it scales with your enemy’s current health. Lead with this skill after you’ve hit your enemy with (E) Cocoon.
- In her (R) Spider Form, her (Q) Venomous Bite deals more damage if your enemy is low on health. Use this to finish them off.
- Cast (W) Volatile Spiderling on brushes to check and damage any enemy champions hiding in the bush.
- (E) Rappel is an excellent skill to stick close to enemy targets or to disengage from team fights and ganks. However, you need to have an enemy target in order to close into or move away from the fight.
- When you get close to an enemy, transform into your (R) Spider Form and use your (W) Skittering Frenzy to increase your attack speed and your spiderlings.

Ninja Tabi – Ninja Tabi is a good boots upgrade to get if your enemy team is predominantly a Physical Damage-dealing team.
Sorcerer’s Shoes – If you want your skills to have more potency, Sorcerer’s Shoes is a nice boots upgrade to get. It gives Elise bonus magic penetration to give her damaging skills an added punch.
Void Staff – Another good item to get if you want your skills to deal more damage, Void Staff grants good bonus Ability Power and magic penetration to Elise’s skills.
Abyssal Mask – Abyssal Mask gives good defensive stats – bonus health and magic resistance. It also grants Elise an aura that decreases the enemies’ magic resistance if they are close to her.
Hextech Protobelt-01 – Getting this item gives Elise good initiating capability and chase down power. Hextech Protobelt-01 also provides Elise with added tankiness via bonus health.
Playing Against
- Elise is squishy and moves very slow when she is in her Human Form. Take note of this when you encounter her.
- Avoid getting hit with her (E) Cocoon, as it will stun you and leave you open to her other damaging skills, both in her Human and (R) Spider Form.
- When she is in her (R) Spider Form, do your best to protect your team’s carries, as it is highly likely that she’ll (E) Rappel towards them and eliminate them as fast as she can.
- Is she does try to close in on your carries with (E) Rappel, make sure to punish her for it, as she won’t have any other escape skills other than her Flash.
- During team fights, if you can’t manage to eliminate the enemy carries, you can opt to pick Elise off, as she is susceptible to crowd control and focus fire.
Hard Counter
- Maokai – Maokai can keep Elise grounded with his Twisted Advance. In the jungle, Maokai can scout her jungle with Sapling Toss to determine where Elise might move.
- Lee Sin – Lee Sin can counter-jungle Elise. He can displace her with a well-timed Dragon’s Rage and follow up with Resonating Strike to quickly dispatch of Elise, especially in the early game.
- Kassadin – Kassadin excels in getting in close to enemies and bursting them down with magic damage. Elise is especially squishy before she gets her items, which makes her vulnerable to Kassadin’s burst damage and high mobility.
- Wukong – Wukong can bait Elise into using her (E) Cocoon on his clone. He can then punish her with Nimbus Strike and Crushing Blow combo for massive damage.
