Strategy
- Her (Q) Switcheroo! gives her two strong options when fighting. Fishbones are effective at gunning down particular enemies at close range while Pow-Pow can nuke multiple enemies in long range.
- Do not waste your mana by always using your Pow-Pow. Only use it if there is a huge number of creep waves with low life or you are chasing an enemy champion who is fleeing.
- Use your (E) Flame Chompers! wisely. The skill has a long cooldown and missing it can remove your only way of applying a hard crowd control in a team fight. This skill can also be used to escape enemies by placing it below where your standing.
- Jinx excels at clearing enemy waves because of (Q) Switcheroo! However, freezing your lane early in the game is still the best option while she doesn’t have any items yet.
- (W) Zap! can also reveal stealth units. Use it instead of face checking.
- Getting an assist is already enough to trigger your passive, making Jinx a good kiter after a kill or assist.
- (R) Super Mega Death Rocket! can be casted at an extremely long range. Aim (R) Super Mega Death Rocket! at champions with low health and anticipate where they will hide (i.e. in brushes, near the walls, etc.).

Infinity Edge | Runaan’s Hurricane | Berserker’s Greaves |
Runaan’s Hurricane and Infinity Edge are your core items for Jinx. She has a huge powerspike after building these two items, so this must be your priority. Runaan’s scale well with your (Q) Switcheroo! in both weapon modifications. After that, finish your core with Infinity Edge and you pretty much have the two items that makes Jinx a beast as an AD carry.

Infinity Edge | Runaan’s Hurricane | Rapid Firecannon |
Guardian Angel | The Bloodthirster | Berserker’s Greaves |
Rapid Firecannon – Rapid Firecannon increases Jinx’s attack speed and range. This item is good since it gives you more options when positioning and stacks well with your (Q) Switcheroo! especially if you are using Fishbones and the passive is fully charged as well.
Guardian Angel – Jinx has no mobility, hence she is killed easily when caught by a crowd control or a burst ability. This item fits perfectly well especially if your allies are having a hard time peeling for you.
The Bloodthirster – The Bloodthirster is your go-to lifesteal item. It gives you a lot of damage and lifesteal, which fits with Jinx. She can fully regenerate her missing health because both Fisbones and Pow-Pow helps Jinx adjust to any situation with her basic attacks, making you unstoppable when you have a good positioning to auto-attack your enemies freely.
Situational Items | ||
---|---|---|
Lord Dominik’s Regards | Mortal Reminder | Mercurial Scimitar |
Phantom Dancer |
Lord Dominik’s Regards/Mortal Reminder – Pretty standard items if your enemy team has builds a lot of tanky items. Focus on Lord Dominik’s Regards if the team has plenty of armor-heavy champions. Otherwise, build Mortal Reminder for heroes with high health and regeneration.
Mercurial Schimitar – This item really fits well with Jinx, considering she has little mobility. Her chompers is pretty much her only escape skill and that is if you land it correctly. Get this if you want to have more options for escaping crowd controls at the expense of more damage and lifesteal from The Bloodthirster.
Phantom Dancer – This is situational if you think you will be in many 1v1 situation, as Phantom Dancer gives you a lot of dueling ability. Substitute this with Rapid Firecannon if needed.
Playing Against
- Go aggressive on her if (E) Flame Chompers! is on cooldown. She has no other reliable escape, aside from flash.
- Do not stand close to the target of Jinx when she pulls out Pow-Pow because it is an AoE skill that can damage you as well.
- Do not stick around when you have low health, as she can activate (R) Super Mega Death Rocket! anywhere on the map. Also, do not stick close to your allies who have low health because it also deals AoE damage and can give Jinx multiple kills.
- Never teleport with low health where Jinx can see you because she has multiple weapons like Pow-Pow and (W) Zap! that has a very long range.
- Assists and kills make Jinx super mobile because of her passive Get Excited! Apply crowd control to her as much as possible to avoid her from kiting and disengaging in enemy fights.
Hard Counters
Sivir – Sivir can absorb almost all of Jinx’s skill with her Spell Shield. Almost all her skill have a delay and an animation, therefore Sivir has a lot of time to react. Sivir also a better damage input because of her passive in On the Hunt and Ricochet.
Vayne – Vayne is a good champion with a lot of mobility to escape Jinx’s flurry of skillshots. She is also a better kiter than Jinx and can easily stop her rampage with a well-timed Condemn to a wall. Vayne can also avoid Jinx’s ultimate by using Tumble.
Ezreal – Ezreal is also another mobile champion that has a lot of mobility. He can avoid her skillshots with Arcane Shift. Aside from his mini-flash, he is also a good harasser and Jinx has no mobility to escape her Mystic Shot + Essence Flux combo.
