G2 Esports Loses in a Heartbreaker against SSG
This game was very crucial in determining who will be the top 2 seed in the tournament, as a win for G2 Esports means that they have a large chance of clutching their way in the next round of the tournament. They also managed to win against RNG in the first game of the day to give them an even higher chance of winning it all.
G2 Esports settled for a more offensive draft with hyper carries such as Kog’Maw and Ryze leading the fray. SSG settled for a more defensive composition with the emphasis on protecting Twitch.
It was going well for the European team in the early game as G2 Perkz managed to secure a first blood and an early gold lead. SSG played it smart and tried to farm it out until all of them had the power to team fight.
It was until 31 minutes SSG caught G2 Zven in the top lane to give them the leverage they need. They managed to secure Baron and more kills to pressure G2 even more. SSG CuVee even managed to steal an Elder Dragon from G2.
SSG didn’t look back after garnering a Baron and Elder Dragon buff, pushing the lanes of G2 further. G2 tried to defend the base, but it wasn’t enough as SSG gathered an ace and the eventual win.
With the loss, 1907 Fenerbahçe Espor needed to win against RNG for G2 Esports to have a chance in getting the second place spot. The struggling 1907 Fenerbahçe Espor, unfortunately, was not able to come close against the Chinese powerhouse. RNG defeated 1907 Fenerbahçe Espor in a bloodbath, 2-12.
The Battle for First Place
The last game was between SSG and RNG, who are both looking to get first place in group C. It was a very close game in the early-mid game, as both teams had great team fights and openings. Everything was close until the 27th-minute mark when RNG got a 2-0 trade and a Baron Nashor.
The gold lead of RNG went uphill after that sequence, pushing inhibitors and winning team fights in the process. RNG eventually gave so much pressure in all lanes that SSG couldn’t handle defending it anymore, securing another two to nothing trade and pushing the nexus more to give them the 5-1 lead.
