Resident Evil 7 Demo is out on PC and nobody is playing it [Resident Evil 7/REVII]

[UPDATE] Resident Evil 7 Teaser: Beginning Hour can now be downloaded by Steam Users!

Release Troubles

Capcom released Resident Evil 7 Teaser: Beginning Hour for Xbox One last December 9, 2016. Hours ago, Beginning Hour came out on Steam, to the excitement of fans all over the world.

However, there’s trouble in paradise.

As of 10:53 AM PST, users cannot access the game beyond pressing the “Play Game” button on steam. Pressing the button triggers a small window to open that reads, “Checking for updates,” and “Scanning for steam game updates.” It then closes after half a second, and then refreshes the page.

A steam user, Mr.BernyMoon, posted an announcement from one of the Resident Evil team, WBacon.

Here’s what WBacon[Capcom] has to say:

“Sorry – it’s hard to give an exact time frame since we still don’t know what exactly is causing the issue. Rest assured our dev folks are trying to fix it as quickly as humanly possible.

We’re still investigating, but it may have to do with the fact that the demo is classified as a F2P app.

As most fans are aware, there’s a hidden item that can be unlocked in the demo and can be carried over into the full game. As such, the teaser demo needs to be categorized as a ‘Free to Play’ Steam application since it needs to be a standalone product that can coexist with the full game. Categorizing the app as “Demo” unfortunately wouldn’t work since the app no longer becomes accessible once you own the full game.”

Here’s hoping we can all curb our hunger for a PC demo. We’ve waited this long, we can wait some more.

This page will update as the news comes in. Check back for more announcements.
