Which Final Fantasy should be Remastered Next?

With Final Fantasy VII coming out soon, there are two games left that need to be done justice. Which will it be? Final Fantasy VIII or Final Fantasy IX?

Final Fantasy Remake

With the different Final Fantasy remakes, Square Enix opts for a different plan of action. After accomplishing the three remakes, they then intend to let their fans choose the next game. Remaster or remake – there are two Final Fantasy games that have won the hearts of many: Final Fantasy VIII and Final Fantasy IX.

But before we have a vote, let’s examine the two Final Fantasy games: Final Fantasy VIII and Final Fantasy IX.

Final Fantasy VIII has a bit of time travel in the story. With magic slowly dwindling away, people soon began to fear those wield magic. People call these wielders “sorceresses”. They are the only ones who can wield true magic without suffering from the side effects. The game takes place after the Sorceress War where the two large states, Galbadia and Esthar waged war against one another. The main character is a lone wolf named Squall who graduates from SeeD to perform missions given to him from Balamb. He also wields a special gunblade, becoming his signature weapon. However, the game truly begins when he encounters a young woman named Rinoa to which he soon discovers a bigger war than he realizes.

Final Fantasy IX

Final Fantasy IX is a steam-punk/fantasy game in which magic and science somehow reconcile with one another. The game takes place in a steam-punk like world where magic becomes a tool of war. The story begins with Zidane, a thief who works in a band known as Tantalus. He works with his brothers to begin their latest job: to kidnap the princess of Alexandria, Princess Garnet. Upon kidnapping her, Zidane meets a few friends along the way which soon triggers him to go around the world. He also discovers the existence of powerful magic-users that once existed known as Summoners.

So which game?

Both games are equally good with both being made by Squaresoft. However, the fusion of the graphics company of Enix will hopefully do these two games justice. So which of the two do you like? Let us know from the comments below!
