Island Ordinances Guide in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
What are Island Ordinances?
Island Ordinances is a new feature in added in the last free update (version 2.0) of Animal Crossing: New Horizons that lets you enact island laws. Upon taking effect, all residents and shops will follow them, allowing you to manipulate individual schedules to your preference.
How to Set Island Ordinances
Talk to Isabelle at the Town Hall
To set Island Ordinances, you must update the game to version 2.0 (last update). Then, talk to Isabelle at the Town Hall to view ordinances that you can declare.
Can only be enacted by the Island Representative
Note that only the island representative (the player character that was created for the first time) can enact ordinances. Non-representative characters cannot access this feature.
List of all Island Ordinances
Below is a list of all Island Ordinances and each of their effects in the game.
Ordinance | Effect |
---|---|
Beautiful Island Ordinance | Cockroaches will not appear in houses and weeds will not grow as easily. |
Early Bird Ordinance | Causes residents to wake up and shops to open earlier than their normal schedules. |
Night Owl Ordinance | Causes residents to go to bed and shops to close later than their normal schedules. |
Bell Boom Ordinance | Increases the selling and buying price of stores. |
Each Ordinance requires 20,000 Bells to enact. After confirmation which Ordinance you want to set on the island, it will take effect the following day. Talk to Isabelle again at the Town Hall to change which type of Ordinance you want to take effect.
