Does Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon Have Co-op?
Developed for single-player.
Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon was developed as a single-player action-adventure game that allows you to control both the young witch Cereza (Bayonetta) and the demon Cheshire simultaneously. This is done by having the player operate Cereza with the left joycon (or left side of the controller) and Cheshire with the right joycon (or right side of the controller).
Can be played with two players using separate joycons (Unleashed Mode)
While the game has not been marketed for co-op, it is possible for one player to control Cereza while the another player uses Cheshire by switching to Unleashed Mode in the game. Simply have each person use a joycon that corresponds to the character that they want to operate. This method lets you enjoy Bayonetta Origin’s story and gameplay with a friend as you work together to solve puzzles or take down bosses throughout each chapter.
Note that certain sections of the game will still require you to switch to Hug Mode (single-player control) which means that one person may need to take over from time to time.
May take practice and constant communication between both players.
It may feel awkward at first to hold a joycon that does not suit your natural handedness. Because of this, try to spend time to practicing in the early chapters until both players become more comfortable controlling their character. You will also need to frequently coordinate your actions with your partner so try talk and plan your strategy as often as possible.
What is Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon?
Prequel to Bayonetta 3
Bayonetta Origins is a prequel to Bayonetta 3 which follows the adventures of young Cereza, an umbral witch-in-training. Prior to becoming the capable witch Bayonetta, Cereza meets the mysterious demon Cheshire who accompanies the shy girl on a journey through the forbidden Avalon Forest in search of her mother.

Synergetic Combat Gameplay
The Bayonetta series is known for its fast-paced and often challenging combat which allows players to link a variety of weapons and magic attacks to perform stylish combos. In the prequel, Cereza plays a more supportive role where she binds or hinders enemies for Cheshire to defeat.
Unlike the first three games in the series where Bayonetta (Cereza) normally battles foes head-on by herself, Bayonetta Origins will require Cereza and Cheshire to work as a team to get through each encounter. Players can use the left joy con to control Cereza who can cast Umbran magic to immobilize or weaken enemies. Cheshire, meanwhile, can perform powerful demonic attacks and is operated using the right joy con.
Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon Game Controls
Each character has a unique skill tree with various moves and abilities players can unlock using materials collected throughout the game. Using Cereza and Cheshire’s individual strengths, players can experiment to discover creative ways to take down enemies found in Avalon Forest.
Visuals and Art Style
Bayonetta Origins adopts colorful cel-shaded graphics which give the game a storybook fairy-tale vibe. The game’s visual departure from earlier entries in the franchise is obviously intended to enhance the storybook feel of Cereza and Cheshire’s adventure. Players will be treated to vibrant colors that give life to Avalon Forest and the strange creatures inhabiting it.
