Strategy
- Diana excels at taking down single targets, dueling and initiating team fights. Start your combo with (Q) Crescent Strike. Hit as many enemy champs as possible or the priority target during clashes.
- During the laning phase, it is best to hit (Q) Crescent Strike on the enemy minion wave as well as the enemy champion for good lane harass and make it easier for you to farm.
- (Q) Crescent Strike has a peculiar curve when you cast it. Keep this in mind, as opponents can move inside the curve and avoid getting hit with Moonlight.
- Once you hit an enemy champion with (Q) Crescent Strike, you can blink to them with (R) Lunar Rush for massive damage.
- When you are close to an enemy or if they charge at you, cast (W) Pale Cascade. This will give Diana a protective shield, as well as three orbs that deal damage to any enemy it touches.
- During a skirmish, if the enemy is trying to escape, pull them back to you with (E) Moonfall. You can also pull in multiple enemies during clashes, lining them up for your team’s skill combos.
- Diana’s (R) Lunar Rush can only be casted on an enemy marked with Moonlight from (Q) Crescent Strike.

Lichbane | Nashor’s Tooth | Sorcerer’s Shoes |
Lichbane – This item is good on Diana because of the active Spellblade. It basically increases your next basic attack after using an ability. The gap closer of Diana provides a good avenue for this item to be fully used to its maximum potential. The extra movement speed and ability power makes this item a must have for any Diana build.
Nashor’s Tooth – Nashor’s Tooth provides the excellent blend of attack speed and ability power, good for AP champions who rely on basic attacks for their damage. Nashor’s Tooth hastens the proc of Moonsilver Blade. It also has an AP on hit magic damage that suits well with Diana’s playstyle.
Sorcerer’s Shoes – Sorcerer’s Shoes gives Diana more magic penetration.

Nashor’s Tooth | Lichbane | Sorcerer’s Shoes |
Zhonya’s Hourglass | Rabadon’s Deathcap | Void Staff |
Zhonya’s Hourglass – This is a good item for Diana since she relies on staying close to the enemy, and sometimes she might commit a mistake and jump on an enemy only to find out that there are a lot of them near him. Zhonya’s Hourglass provides a good invulnerability timer where you have the chance to react and plan your escape.
Rabadon’s Deathcap – Rabadon’s Deathcap greatly increases you AP damage, making you a reliable assassin in the mid-late game.
Void Staff – Void Staff increases your magic penetration. This item is particularly good especially if the enemy has a lot magic resistance items. This makes Diana more powerful in terms of her ability power and one shot potential.
Situational Items

---|---|---|
Abyssal Mask | Rod of Ages | Mercury Treads |
Hextech Protobelt-01 |
Abyssal Mask – Abyssal Mask is more of a defensive and team-oriented item compared to Void Staff. Substitute this if you have another bursty AP ally and/or you need magic resistance while having a magic penetration item.
Rod of Ages – Rod of Ages takes time to build. With the time required to maximize the effectiveness of this item, other items could’ve been as effective as this one. Get this one if you really value the stats or if you somehow managed to get a strong lead early in the game.
Mercury’s Treads – Mercury’s Treads is a great boots upgrade if the enemy has a lot of hard crowd controls that contributing much in a team fight.
Hextech Protobelt-01 – Hextech Protobelt-01 is a good item if you want to go ham on the rift. The stats of this item, however, do not benefit Diana that much.

Playing Against
- As much as possible, avoid getting hit with (Q) Crescent Strike, as she will be able to cast (R) Lunar Rush at you dealing massive damage.
- Diana’s (Q) Crescent Strike has an arc which you can slide into to avoid being hit with Moonlight should you decide to engage her, or if she tries to have a go at you.
- When Diana casts (W) Pale Cascade, it is best to back away from her and let the shield dissipate. Her shield gains a boost if she manages to detonate all the orbs surrounding her.
- (E) Moonfall pulls you back within Diana’s reach if you try to escape, but it has a limited range around her. It is best to save your Flash just in case she manages to get close to you so that you can escape her damage.
- Diana is relatively squishy, especially during the early game and once her (W) Pale Cascade dissipates. Coordinate with your teammates to take her out early or once her shield breaks.
- During clashes, have your team’s Support stick close to your carry. Diana will always target squishy targets, so it is best to cast your crowd control skills to prevent her from reaching and eliminating your team’s damage dealers.
Hard Counter
- Mordekaiser – Mordekaiser excels at close range skirmishes especially when his enemies are alone. Mace of Spades increases the damage of his basic attack. Children of the Grave also allows him to be very effective against Melee since it curses the enemy, allowing him to deal a ton of damage.
- Cho’Gath – When Diana gets close, Cho’Gath can simply just use Feral Scream to silence her and Rupture to stun her. She can also instakill you with Feast since Diana is considered to be very vulnerable when she can’t cast her skills.
- Heimerdinger – Heimerdinger completely wrecks a Diana in the laning phase. His turrets and array of abilities won’t let Diana get close to Heimerdinger without receiving a ton of damage. Heimerdinger can also just cast CH-2 Electron Storm Grenade to stun Diana if she gets close.
- Syndra – Syndra is also one of the few mid laners who can deal with Diana. She has a ton of damaging abilities that can one shot an unsuspecting Diana. She can also disrupt Diana’s gap closers with Scatter the Weak.
