[League of Legends / LoL] Patch 7.16 Highlights

Patch 7.16 Highlights

Patch 7.16 will be hitting the live servers later. While there are only a few notable changes in this patch , some are still worth noting. This patch is meant to give balance to the fast-approaching Worlds tournament, and we can see why. Here are the top things in this patch to look out for –

Caitlyn Continues to Go Down the Drain

Caitlyn gets another nerf in patch 7.16. Her Piltover Peacemaker now deals 50% damage after the first instead of 67% damage. Her Yordle Traps’ base damage are lowered at early ranks. Although she is still somewhat a safe pick in the current professional and casual meta, only time will tell on how this small changes will affect her pick rate.

On-Hit Effects does not Work on Wards Anymore

No more ward cheesing after this patch, as on-hit effects cannot be activated on wards anymore. Champions like Aatrox, Jayce, Jax, and Riven will not be able to proc their on-hit effects on wards. Although this might be a miniscule change in an already small patch notes, this change just goes to show that Riot is still trying to even out the small things that shouldn’t even be in the game.

A Lot of Mid Laners got Minor Changes

Many Mid Laners are getting small fixes in these patch to make way for Worlds. They are very minor and some changes are even too small to notice in-game. What we can see from these changes is that most of them are aimed on either increasing or decreasing the cooldowns of abilities. Aside from that, there isn’t too much to see from the changes.

“Enemy Ward Here!” and other Visual Changes

You can now ping your allies to alert them that there is a ward in that area. The only problem is that it isn’t fully functional yet, and you need to manually put a keybind on it in the communication section of the in-game hotkeys menu.

Another good improvement is that the HUD in the champion portrait now uses the skin splash you are currently using. Not that groundbreaking, but it sure does look beautiful in-game especially if you are using your favorite skin.
