Cell Division
(Static Cooldown: 300)INNATE: Each time he hits an enemy with an ability, he sheds a chunk of himself that can be reabsorbed to restore Health. Upon taking fatal damage, Zac splits into 4 bloblets that attempt to recombine. If any bloblets remain, he will revive with an amount of Health depending on the Health of the surviving bloblets. Each bloblet has a percentage of Zac’s maximum Health, Armor and Magic Resistance. This ability has a 5 minute cooldown.

Let's Bounce Let’s Bounce
(Target Range: 700/850/1000, Effect Radius: 300, Cooldown: 130/115/100, Slow: 30/40/50%, Magic Damage: 150/250/350 [+70% AP])ACTIVE: Zac launches into the air, gaining Movement Speed, and slams down three times, each time damaging, slowing and knocking up nearby enemies. He bounces 4 times, knocking up and slowing enemies. Each bounce deals 140/210/280 (+40% Ability Power) Magic Damage to nearby enemies, knocks them up for 1 second, and slows them by 20% for 1 second. Enemies hit more than once take 50% damage and are not knocked up. Upon activation, he removes all slows affecting him and gains an accelerating Movement Speed buff (20-50%) for the duration. Zac can right-click to move and can activate Unstable Matter while in the air.

Strategy

  • He is extremely proficient when it comes to ganking lanes. Position yourself in unique locations that your (E) Elastic Slingshot can cover to surprise your teammates’ enemy laners.
  • When you hit an enemy champion with (Q) Stretching Strikes, try to hit the closest enemy minion or champion to your team to pull him back and prevent their escape.
  • During the jungling phase, remember to hit neutral camps with your skills and pick up the blobs to help you recover some of your health.
  • (R) Let’s Bounce can be canceled early to provide a quick knock up to enemies close to Zac’s area. Use this to cancel channelling champions.
  • You can tower-dive low-health enemy champions so long as you have Cellular Division (passive). Coordinate with your teammates to land a successful kill when you do decide to engage.
  • A “cheat” that can help with Zac’s survival is an ally using their Teleport on one of Zac’s blobs as he’s getting attacked. Any unit being teleported into becomes invulnerable for 2-3 seconds. This is enough time for Zac to become complete again and by then it would be 2 champs versus the number of champions mobbing Zac.
  • His recent major rework added more team fight presence and gank potential to Zac’s kit compared to his previous one. Use this to your full advantage and try to gank more using your (E) Elastic Slingshot and (R) Let’s Bounce.

Core Items
Stalker Blade - Cinderhulk icon Warmogs armor icon Spirit visage icon
Stalker’s Blade: Cinderhulk Enchantment Warmog’s Armor Spirit Visage

Stalker’s Blade: Cinderhulk Enchantment – A standard item for jungle tanks, the Cinderhulk upgrade for Stalker’s Blade gives him bonus Health, a damaging aura and an active skill that slows down enemy champions. This is useful as Zac thrives when he initiates ganks and is in the thick of the fight.

Warmog’s Armor – This is Zac’s go-to item for tanking. Warmog’s Armor gives tremendous bonus health and coold down reduction, as well as a strong health regeneration when he is out of combat.

Spirit Visage – Another item he needs to tank for his team, Spirit Visage gives magic resistance and bonus health, as well as cool down reduction. It also increases the healing effects its wearer receives.

Hextech Protobelt-01 – A good option, Hextech Protobelt-01 gives him another initiating skill. It gives bonus health, cool down reduction and Ability Power.

Locket of the Iron Solari – Another item to help your team during clashes, Locket of the Iron Solari bolsters Zac’s armor and magic resistance. It also gives him the ability to shield his team, increasing their chances to live through team fights.

Situational Items
Randuins omen icon Thornmail icon Banshees veil icon
Randuin’s Omen Thornmail Banshee’s Veil
Dead mans plate icon Abyssal mask icon
Dead Man’s Plate Abyssal Mask

Randuin’s Omen – Randuin’s Omen has good bonus health and armor stats. It also has an ability that slows enemies around its wearer. Get this item if the enemy team consists of mostly physical auto attackers.

Thornmail – Another item to deal with physical attackers, Thornmail makes the enemy ADCs think twice of attacking you, since they will get damaged back and hinder their lifesteal, while he can wail on them with his crowd control.

Banshee’s Veil – A somewhat decent defensive item to address crowd control effects, Banshee’s Veil gives Zac a spell shield that blocks one enemy skill. This might come in handy when he tries to initiate a team fight with an opposing team that has a lot of disables and disengages.

Rylai’s Crystal Scepter – Rylai’s Crystal Scepter is a good addition to Zac’s already loaded kit of crowd control goodness. It gives his skills a slow debuff whenever he manages to hit enemies.

Abyssal Mask – If your team’s damage relies on Ability Power, getting Abyssal Mask is a good choice. It gives bonus health and magic resistance, as well as an aura that reduces enemies’ magic resistance.

Playing Against

  • Ward your surrounding areas – He usually positions himself in unconventional locations when setting up ganks. It is best to ward choke points, brushes and other terrain where you feel Zac might be lurking.
  • Avoid clumping together if you don’t see Zac – he might be setting up a gank with his (E) Elastic Slingshot.
  • Typical Zac players stack armor and health items. It is advisable to counter this by buying Armor Penetration items such as Last Whisper, Lord Dominik’s Regards and Mortal Reminder, as well as Health Percentage-damaging items such as Blade of the Ruined King.
  • He has heavy crowd control, making him a pain during clashes or when he ganks. Try to avoid getting hit by his skills to mitigate his impact.
  • When he bursts into his four lesser blobs, do your best to kill each one quickly to put him out of commission.

Hard Counters

Vi – Vi is a mobile jungler who can mess up Zac’s jungling phase by stealing his monsters or outright killing him. She can also thwart his (E) Elastic Slingshot charge with a well-timed Vault Breaker.

Renekton – Renekton is a surprisingly tanky champion who also deals good damage during trades. He can take Zac’s initial crowd control skills and comeback to hit him hard with his Slice and Dice + Ruthless Predator + Cull the Meek combo.

Vladimir – Vladimir can dodge most of Zac’s skills thanks to Sanguine Pool, and can dish out heavy sustained Magic Damage to Zac, especially if he doesn’t have any back up.

Fizz – Fizz is an elusive champion who can evade Elastic Slingshot and Let’s Bounce with Playful / Trickster and punish him with his Urchin Strike + Seastone Trident combo.
