Wuhan, China – Group Stage Day 4 of the League of Legends Worlds 2017 is in the books, and it showcased some spectacular and dominant play from Korea and China, as well as some an underdog overcoming a crowd favorite.

Misfits Pulls of Upset Against TSM

Misfits upsets TSM at Group Stage Day 4

One of the highlights of Group Stage Day 4 saw EU LCS’ Misfits secure a win against NA LCS powerhouse Team Solo Mid (TSM).

Misfits were the underdogs going into their match, but they were quick to seize control of the early game, applying pressure at the Bottom Lane behind Maxlore’s Gragas. However, the mid-game saw TSM bounce back, netting crucial team fights in the mid lane, as well as an early Baron in 23 Minutes of play.

TSM had some chances to get the win, but Misfits had other plans. Misfits took advantage of TSM’s calls to get Baron during the late game, and managed to pick off Doublelift to walk towards their base and destroy TSM’s Nexus.

LPL Representatives Win in Home Turf

Team WE and Royal Never Give Up (RNG) from the LPL secured crucial wins during their Group Stage Day 4 match ups against Flash Wolves and G2 eSports, respectively.

Team WE soundly defeated Flash Wolves thanks to some superior positioning from Mystic’s Twitch, who secured a quadrakill near top lane. Their victory gives increases their standings 2-1 in their bracket.

RNG capped off Day 4 with a decisive win against EU LCS’ G2 eSports. G2 eSports pushed the issue early, applying pressure in the top lane in the early stages. But RNG weathered the barrage on their way to a commanding 13-5 KDA behind their Ace ADC, Uzi.

Korea Continues to Dominate Groups Stage

LCK’s Longzhu Gaming and Samsung Galaxy continue their winning ways, besting Fnatic and 1907 Fenerbahçe Espor.

In one of the more one-sided games to date, Longzhu Gaming (LZ) defeated Fnatic in convincing fashion. LZ capitalized on getting Janna by also picking Nasus on top to match with Fnatic’s Maokai. This led to one-sided clashes which saw Khan leading the charge and dealing massive damage for LZ, while also tanking damage. Their game lasted just below 21 minutes – one of the fastest games in this year’s Worlds to date.

Samsung Galaxy (SSG) also grabbed a victory over 1907 Fenerbahçe Espor (FB) in their Group Stage Day 4 match. In one of the more competitive games, the TCL representative bounced back from SSG’s early onslaught to take a 8-4 KDA and 88k to 81k gold lead in 41 minutes of play. But a final clash near Baron proved to be the catalyst, as SSG managed to thwart FB’s charge and secure the big win.

Immortals beat GIGABYTE Marines

Immortals also won handily against GPL’s GIGABYTE Marines, improving their standings 2-1 during their Group Stage Day 4 match. GIGABYTE Marines opted to go for a more meta-based lineup, with Cho’Gath, Ryze, Kog’Maw and Lulu. But Levi chose to play Kayn, a champion that suits his hyper aggressive play style.

Known for their high Kill Score, GIGABYTE Marines scored an early first blood against an errant engage from Immortal’s Olleh. However, they could not capitalize and Immortals rallied and managed to control the pace of the game, all the way to a 6-11 KDA victory.
