Wuhan, China – The League of Legends World Championships Group Stage Day 5 saw some historical games which included a spectacular comeback from a battle-tested team, as well as a strong, dominant showing from one of the top clubs in Group B.

Fnatic Secures 2nd Seed in Miracle Group Stage Day 5 Run

Group Stage Day 5: Fnatic goes from 0-4 to 2nd Seed

EU LCS favorites Fnatic made history by securing the 2nd Seed in Group B after starting the first week at Worlds with 0-3.

Most people have written off Fnatic, especially after a hard 0-4 standing early on Day 5 with a loss against Longzhu Gaming. But through a string of crucial wins against their opposition in Group B, they managed to get a win and the coveted second seed in the Quarterfinals.

Led by some excellent playmaking from Fnatic players Rekkles, Caps, and rookie Jungler Broxah, Fnatic clawed their way back by defeating Immortals and GIGABYTE Marines to force a tiebreaker. Fnatic capped their amazing run by defeating Immortals again in the first tiebreaker game and GIGABYTE Marines in the final tiebreaker match to eventually grab the 2nd seed and qualify to the next stage with a 4-4 standing.

Longzhu Gaming 6-0 in Group B

Longzhu Gaming dominates in Group Stage Day 5

Longzhu Gaming dominated their Group Stage Day 5 matchups by going undefeated on their way to grabbing the 1st seed in their group and qualifying in the Quarterfinals.

Fnatic, Immortals and GIGABYTE Marines looked to give Longzhu Gaming their first loss, but the LCK champions had other ideas. They adjusted and pressed the attack in each of their games – led by some superior positioning by Pray to take down crucial targets during clashes.

In their final match of Group Stage Day 5, Longzhu Gaming had Rascal sub in for Khan against Immortals. Nevertheless, the results were the same, with Longzhu Gaming coming out on top and having a spotless 6-0 record to finish off their amazing run on Group B.
