All Endings Guide for Metal Gear Solid (MGS1)

The type of ending you will get depends on the result of the torture section.

Metal Gear Solid (MGS1) has two types of endings that you can unlock at the end of the game. These are the Meryl Ending (good ending) and the Otacon Ending (bad ending).

Metal Gear Solid (MGS1) Post-Game Unlockables Guide

The ending you unlock in the game depends on whether or not you endured Revolver Ocelot’s torture section. Not submitting to the torture and escaping will unlock the Meryl Ending. Otherwise, you will get the Otacon Ending.

Escaping the Cell using Ketchup

After the second torture section is over, Otacon will give Snake some Ketchup.

You can use this item while lying on the floor to fool the guard into thinking that you are dead.

When the guard opens the door, grab and throw him. Then, collect your gear and leave the Medical Room.
