You can get Grenade explosives in Metal Gear Solid (MGS1) at various areas in the game such as the Tank Hangar B2F Armory, Valley, Snowfield, and Nuclear Warhead Storage Building.

How to use Grenade

Required during the M1 Tank boss fight.

Grenades are a necessary weapon for the M1 Tank boss battle. The explosive will detonate 5 seconds after holding it with □ button. The throwing distance of the Grenade is automatically adjusted as can be observed when fighting the M1 Tank (Snake will automatically throw the Grenade inside the driver’s seat when the tank is close enough).

Can detonate and kill Snake.

Be careful when using Grenades as the explosion is also capable of killing Snake.
