Below is a guide on the best ways to get ammo in The Callisto Protocol and recommended tips for farming them.

Ways to Get Ammo

Defeat enemies.

You can get ammo by defeating various types of enemies throughout Black Iron Prison. Just go through the story objectives and you will find yourself accumulating a decent amount of ammo. It is, however, recommended to turn to other sources if you want to maintain a healthy supply while going through the main story.

Be sure to stomp Biophages after downing them.

Sometimes, you may not immediately obtain ammo even after shooting down a Biophage. Make it a habit to approach enemies that are lying on the floor and perform a stomp to collect bullets and shells from them.

Ammo can also be bought at a Reforger terminal if you have enough Callisto Credits. When you become skilled enough to progress through the game with minimal supplies, you can even try offloading consumables  from your inventory for Credits. Then, use the money to buy ammo.

Tips for Farming Ammo

Ammo drops more frequently from enemies if you are low on them.

Items obtained from enemies highly depend on your current health and ammo. Being close to death will increase the chances of obtaining healing. Being low on ammo, meanwhile, makes foes more likely to yield bullets and shells.

If you want to raise your chances of getting ammo from defeated enemies, you can try taking them down using the Stun Baton while your ammo is nearly depleted (to be confirmed). This essentially requires you to take down targets using melee attacks without getting hit yourself so get used to dodging enemy attacks throughout the game.
