Bayonetta 3 is the third installment in the Bayonetta series of action-adventure hack-and-slash games developed by PlatinumGames. The title is a direct sequel to Bayonetta 2 first released on the Nintendo Wii U in 2014 and on the Nintendo Switch in 2018.

As with previous entries in the franchise, Bayonetta 3 follows the story of the titular heroine Bayonetta, a powerful Umbra Witch who wields immense demonic powers in battle. As a result of Bayonetta’s training from her clan, she is also highly-skilled in Bullet Arts, a unique fighting style that combines melee attacks with gunfire, as well as various other weaponry.

In Bayonetta 3, Bayonetta sets off on a journey across the mysterious island of Thule. A new race of hostile beings known as Homonculi await the Umbra Witch as she fights to stop an evil entity known as the Singularity from bringing about the destruction of the various inhabited worlds.

Bayonetta will also meet old and new allies during her mission. Among the latter is Viola, a witch-in-training, who wields a katana and is partnered with the Infernal Demon Cheshire. Jeanne, Bayonetta’s rival, best friend, and fellow Umbra Witch, also returns in the game to assist the titular heroine at various points of the game’s main story.
