How to Get the Umbral Ending in Lords of the Fallen 2
What is the Umbral ending?
The Umbral ending is the secret ending of Lords of the Fallen 2 (2023) which is unlocked by meeting a significant number of conditions throughout the game’s main story. The requirements for unlocking the Umbral ending far outnumber those in the Radiant and Adyr (Rhogar) story routes which make it the hardest to achieve in the game.

Key Requirements to Unlock the Secret Umbral Ending
- Defeat Harrower Dervla, the Pledged Knight and The Unbroken Promise at Revelation Depths.
- Buy the Scouring Clump from Molhu at Skyrest Bridge to enter Mother’s Lull from the well at Revelation Depths.
- Make all four floating platforms appear to cross the gap at Mother’s Lull by taking seedpods to their respective NPCs.
- Obtain all Umbral Parasite’s from various targets and insert them at the pillar found in Skyrest Bridge.
- Cross the gap at Mother’s Lull.
Steps to Unlock the Umbral Ending (Walkthrough)
| 1 | Travel to Revelation Depths and defeat Harrower Dervla, the Pledged Knight and her second form The Unbroken Promise. This will grant you access to the well found at Revelation Depths’ boss area. |

| 2 | Buy the Scouring Clump from Molhu at Skyrest Bridge. Then, return to the well and use the item to reach Mother’s Lull. |
| 3 | Travel to Mother’s Lull and get Damarose’s Seedpod from the Remnant NPC. |
| 4 | Take Damarose’ Seedpod and use it to kill Damarose the Marked at Pilgrim’s Perch. This will cause a floating platform to appear at Mother’s Lull. |
| 5 | Return to Mother’s Lull and get Gerlinde’s Seedpod from the Remnant NPC. |
| 6 | Take Gerlinde’s Seedpod to Gerlinde at Skyrest Bridge and use it to kill her. This will cause a second floating platform to appear at Mother’s Lull. |
| 7 | Advance through the main story until you reach Bramis Castle. |
| 8 | Defeat the Lightreaper that appears to get The Lightreaper’s Umbral Parasite. Then, use the item and insert it at the pillar found in Skyrest Bridge. |
| 9 | Travel back to Mother’s Lull and get Melchior’s Seedpod from the Remnant NPC. |
| 10 | Travel to Abbey of the Hallowed Sisters to get the Rune of Adyr. Then, take it back to Mother’s Lull and talk to the Remnant NPC to get Withered Rune of Adyr. |
| 11 | Travel to Bramis Castle and proceed to the throne room to find Melchior’s corpse. Talk to the Effigy of Adyr before taking the seedpod to the corpse. This will cause a third platform to appear at Mother’s Lull. |
| 12 | Traverse to the Umbral Realm and go to Fief of the Chill Curse. |
| 13 | Use the Withered Rune of Adyr to kill the Iron Wayfarer to get Harkyn’s Umbral Parasite. |
| 14 | Travel back to Skyrest Bridge and insert the parasite into the pillar. |
| 15 | Talk to Molhu in the Umbral realm. |
| 16 | Talk to Pieta at Skyrest Bridge. |
| 17 | Defeat Elianne’s Umbral Parasite (route final boss). |
| 18 | Return to Skyrest Bridge and insert the final parasite into the pillar. |
| 19 | Return to Molhu and talk to him. This will cause the final floating platform to appear in Mother’s Lull. |
| 20 | Travel to Mother’s Lull and cross the floating platforms. |
| 21 | Watch the ending. |
Lock-In and Permanent Events for Umbral Ending
Obtaining the Rune of Adyr and giving it to the Remnant NPC locks you out of the Radiant and Adyr endings.
Getting the Rune of Adyr from either the Abbey of the Hallowed Sisters or from the Iron Wayfarer will lock you out of the Radiant ending route (as this is one of the key steps to unlocking the Adyr ending as well).
You will then need to give the rune to the Remnant NPC at Mother’s Lull to change the item into the Withered Rune of Adyr which will also permanently bar you from the Adyr ending.
Killing off the target NPCs using the seedpods will lock you out of buying things from them or availing of their services.
The Umbral story route requires you to kill Damarose the Marked (merchant) and Gerlinde (blacksmith) who both provide useful services and items outside of being story-related NPCs. Melchior, meanwhile, will already be dead by the time you find him at Bramis Castle.
Be sure to have done anything you need to with the targets (like buying items or upgrading weapons from them) before proceeding to give them the seedpods.
Lords of the Fallen 2 Permanent Events and Missable Features
Ending-Related Trophies and Achievements
Unlocking the Umbral ending unlocks the Back to the Void achievement.
Specific trophies are tied to getting each of the three possible endings of the game. The Umbral Ending, for instance, unlocks the Back to the Void achievement.
You will need to do more playthrough of the main story quest by going into New Game Plus (NG+) if you are aiming for 100% completion (Platinum trophy). This requires you to unlock the In the Light We Walk and Lord of the Risen achievements which you get for getting the Radiant and Adyr (Rhogar) endings respectively.

Ending-Related Secret Classes
The Putrid Child secret class is unlocked for getting the Umbral Ending.
Three ending-specific unlockable classes also become available once you beat the game. For the Umbral Ending, you will gain access to the Putrid Child secret class which is essentially Molhu’s character type in the game. The Dark Crusader class, meanwhile, can also be unlocked if you beat the game for the first time regardless of ending route chosen.
