What is Umbral Dread?

Umbral Dread is status mechanic in Lords of the Fallen. It is gauge that is measured by how much time is spent in the Umbral Realm. The longer time you spent in the Umbral Realm, the more Umbral Eye or Dread meter will fill up.

Why you should avoid maxing up your Umbral Dread

Summons powerful enemies overtime.

Multiple enemies will emerge when the dread meter activates. Difficulty level of the summoned enemies will increase overtime.

Also, a strong enemy will emerge from the Umbral realm. This enemy is difficult to take down early to mid-game. This encounter with a predatory enemy is a guaranteed death to most players.

Why you should max your Umbral Dread Gauge

To farm Vigor quickly but risky.

The advantage of summoned enemies is for you to farm them for XP and Vigor.  The high the dread meter, the higher the multiplier when you take down enemies. Again, this is a high-risk, high-reward farming method suitable to experience or mid-game/late-game players.

The only way to get this Umbral Eye is summon a Scarlet Shadow which drops this strong Umbral Eye.

• Max out your Umbral Dread.
• Use the Umbral Lamp and shift to the Umbral Realm.
• Wait for the Scarlet Shadow to target you and defeat it to acquire the Umbral Eye.

Leave the Umbral Realm.

Shift between the realms (Axiom and Umbral) is the easiest method to diminish your dread meter.

Visit Molhu at Skyrest Bridge to upgrade your Umbral Lamp. Also, add recently acquired Umbral Eyes to the sockets of the Umbral Lamp to extend your Dread Resistance.
