Recommended Melee Class for Beginners – Hallowed Knight
For beginners and new players, it is highly recommended to choose the Hallowed Knight as your starting class if you intend to go for a melee build. This class’ simplicity is its best feature, allowing you to learn the basics of combat while having enough survivability to outlast most early encounters in the game.
Since the Hallowed Knight class naturally favors Strength weapons, you will need to level up your Endurance to accommodate their greater weight. Investing into the stat also opens up your options for heavier shields and armor so you can tank more hits before needing to heal up.
The Hallowed Knight does have the initial disadvantage of not starting the game with a bow, crossbow, or any ranged weapon that can reliably pick off enemies from a distance. The class instead starts off with Grenades which are still effective at dispatching groups, albeit at more limited ranges.

Recommended Mage Class for Beginners – Orian Preacher
Beginners and new players looking to play a caster character should pick the Orian Preacher as their starting class which has initial access to very good Radiance magic that many early game enemies are weak to. This class also starts off with the Orian Preacher Hammer which is able to deal both physical and holy attribute damage in case you run out of mana in battle.
The Orian Preacher has decent levels in Strength at the start of the game, allowing you to experiment with Strength-Radiance hybrid builds commonly termed “Paladin” or “Cleric” builds. Being able to heal and buff yourself using Radiance magic further makes this class viable for engaging enemies up-close which can be on par with pure melee builds.

Lords of the Fallen 2 Orian Preacher Class Guide
The best class, overall, is the one you like the most.
In general, the best class to choose in the beginning of the game is the one that you like the most. This may be based on a class’ playstyle, available weapons, freedom of experimentation, and its appearance and lore. In the end, you will be able to beat the game with enough time and experience with the game’s various mechanics so just pick whatever starting class you have the most fun playing.
Do not give too much focus on a class’ difficulty rating.
While certain classes may be categorized as “Advanced Classes”, you should not shy away from picking them anyway even as a beginner or new player in Lords of the Fallen 2. This label is simply intended to generalize a certain class’ playstyle as either being somewhat more complex or challenging to get used to during the early stages.
Just spending time with any class should make you comfortable with them in the long-run so go ahead and feel out all starting classes if you need to before continuing with the game’s main story.

Can You Change Your Starting Class?
Cannot be changed in the middle of your playthrough.
The starting class you choose at the character creation screen cannot be changed at any point during your playthrough. This means that you will need to make a new character and restart from beginning of the game if you somehow want to pick a different starting class.
Because of this, take your time to choose the starting class that suits your playstyle and preference before starting the game.
