Groznyj Grad Runway – Groznyj Grad Rail Bridge Walkthrough for Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (MGS3)

Groznyj Grad

1	Equip the Cold War Camouflage Uniform.
2	Defeat the enemy soldiers that appear.

Prevents you from being attacked by enemy soldiers.

Wearing the Cold War Camouflage Uniform (obtained by defeating Volgin via stamina kill) will cause enemy soldiers to hesitate attacking you from the front. You will also take reduced damage from incoming attacks with the suit equipped

Damage the Shagohod before the actual fight.

You can fire RPGs at the Shagohod using Tactical Reload to slightly damage it before the actual fight. This can give you an easier time taking down the massive armored vehicle than if you fought it with its health full.

Use stun grenades to deal with groups of enemies.

Every now and then, several enemy soldiers will appear and block your path. Resort to stun grenades to quickly neutralize the soldiers instead of fighting them one by one. Then, use the Mosin Nagant to tranq the soldiers that appear in the breezeway.

Kerotan #53: Above the searchlight in the watchtower (about 15 seconds into the game).

Groznyj Grad Runway South

1	Knock out the enemies with stun grenades.

Kerotan Location

Kerotan #54: On top of a forklift.

Groznyj Grad Runway (First Half)

1	Neutralize enemy soldiers in the sidecars.

Shoot the two Kerotans using SVD.

On the runway, one Kerotan will appear in the first half and one in the second half. After dealing with the enemies in sidecars, shoot the SVD repeatedly to hit the Kerotans.

Kerotan #55: On the fifth box on the left after turning left.

Groznyj Grad Runway (Second Half)

1	Keep shooting RPGs at Shagohod.

Shoot RPG at Shagohod at a good tempo.

If you use Tactical Reloads to fire RPGs at a tempo that is neither too fast nor too slow, you can keep the Shagohod at bay without giving it the chance to do anything.

Kerotan Location

Kerotan #56: On the fourth box on the right.

Groznyj Grad Rail Bridge

1	Shoot the 3 C3s first.
2	Snipe the last C3 when EVA says “I’m here.”
3	Take down the Shagohod and Volgin.

Kerotan Location

Kerotan #57: Arch at the bottom left of the rising bridge.
Kerotan #58: The base of the steel tower (targeted during the battle against Shagohod).

Shagohod Boss Guide

Fire RPGs at the Shagohod’s drill treads to stop it from moving. Then, get behind it and fire RPGs to deal damage to it.

Shagohod and Volgin Boss Guide

Normal Strategy

As with the first phase, damage the Shagohod’s treads using the RPG to hinder its mobility. Then, shoot Volgin in the head with the SVD.

No-Kill Strategy (Deplete Stamina)

Damage the Shagohod’s treads using the RPG to hinder its mobility. Then, shoot Volgin in the head with the Mosin Nagant.

Groznyj Grad Rail Bridge North

1	Proceed forward while defeating the bike squad.

Use stun grenades to deal with the bike squad.

Use stun grenades to wipe out the bike squad during the chase sequence.

Kerotan Location

Kerotan #59: Under the barricade (about 1 minute and 45 seconds into the sequence).

Lasorevo South

1	Proceed forward while defeating the enemy troops.
2	Destroy the fallen trees.

Kerotan Location

Kerotan #60: Rock a little to the right of the direction you are going (10 seconds after moving to the area, using the RPG is recommended).

Lasorevo North

1	Proceed forward while defeating the enemy troops.

Kerotan Location

Kerotan #61: Rock a little to the left of the direction you are going (10 seconds after moving to the area).

Zaozyorje West

1	Treat EVA.
2	Proceed to Zaozyorje East while guiding EVA.

EVA’s stamina gauge decreases quickly.

Since EVA is injured, her stamina gauge decreases very quickly. You can tranq and carry EVA to prevent her from losing stamina, saving you food to give her.

EVA is afraid of snakes.

EVA hates snakes and will run away if there is a one in her direction. Take care of the snake first to allow her to pass.

1	Neutralize the enemy soldiers and proceed.
2	Deal with the enemy soldiers at the bottom of the cliff and proceed to the next area.

1	Defeat The Boss.

The Boss Guide

Tips to Beat The Boss

Be careful when using grenades or the RPG as The Boss can disassemble them.
Press the ○ button to perform a CQC reversal when The Boss grabs you.

Normal Strategy

You can deal big damage to The Boss by using the RPG 3 times. You can also deplete her health by shooting her with the SVD.

Use the M37 on The Boss after a successful CQC reversal.

No-Kill Strategy (Deplete Stamina)

Shoot The Boss with the Mosin Nagant twice after CQC reversal. Then, grab-and-throw The Boss before throwing a stun grenade at her.

Shoot The Boss again with the Mosin Nagant. Then, bait The Boss into grabbing you and go for a CQC reversal.

If The Boss runs away, chase her and shoot her with the MK22.

Food

Snake Solidus: Fallen tree in the south.
Snake Solid: Fallen tree in the east.
Snake Liquid: Fallen tree in the west.

Kerotan Location

Kerotan #64: Top of the central tree.

WIG In-Flight

1	Get the right SAS.
2	Fire 5 shots at Ocelot.

Get the SAA on the right to obtain it upon starting a New Game.

For the final showdown with Ocelot, get the right SAA. This lets you keep the gun, making it immediately usable when you replay the game.
