[News] Moons of Madness Gameplay Released, Developers Awarded, Nominated at Gamescom 2017

This is a Samurai Gamers news article. Here you’ll learn about the Moons of Madness gameplay displayed at Gamescom 2017.

Moons of Madness Gameplay

Moons of Madness  demonstrated their gameplay at Gamescom 2017 this week. The developers allowed players to play a little bit of this hard-sci fi psychological cosmic horror video game. A video of it showed up online, if you wish to watch it:

Summary of the Gameplay

The game begins in with you driving a land rover over the rocky and barren wastes of Mars. The user interface is very reminiscent of Fallout 4 , in that your vital signs can be seen at the bottom of your HUD when you’re in your power armor / space suit, respectively. You’re also privileged to have an arm-mounted computer that allows you to scan your surroundings. Orson and the main character are arguing over rock bands when, after passing Point Griffon, the main character experiences problems with the rover.

A lot of the gameplay involves scanning and pulling levers, which means that the game relies on dialogue to keep the player hooked. So far, I have no qualms against the voice acting. They have done a really good job. As the main character attempts to power up his rover, he suddenly gets quick flashes that cause him to panic.

We’ll leave the rest of the details up to you to watch. It might look a bit boring at first, but it will start to intrigue you as it winds up the tension.

Nominations and Awards

Delivering thrilling gameplay isn’t the only thing MoM developers enjoyed yesterday. According to Moons of Madness’s official Facebook page, the game was awarded Best of Gamescom 2017 by Gamecensor.

That was not the only highlight of the night. Another nomination came from TheGamesMachine, which nominated MoM for another best of the show award:

Here’s hoping that Moons will really deliver on what it has promised so far. As far as the previews go, I think it’s gonna be a dreadful experience–and rightfully so.
