New details of the desert city map have been revealed, which now includes an smaller, urban jungle compared to the vast, open fields of Erangel.
New Details of Desert City Map Released!
Did you enjoy Erangel? Personally, I’ve only been playing for a few weeks now, so I do think that the map is sufficient for my PUBG itch (which I’m currently developing…), but maybe you’re already tired of playing the same map, with the same spots, over and over, and over again.
Recently we reported that Bluehole and Playerunknown were going to release a new map in the future: a desert map, where we showed you a sneak-peek into the look and feel of said map. (For me it really felt like Fallout: New Vegas, and , as I played it, almost equally as buggy--though PUBG is a lot worse at times.) Well, Playerunknown recently released a tweet, showing a work-in progress of the urban jungle that would become the…battleground…for our new desert map:

If you thought the taller buildings in Erangel were bad enough, imagine buildings with as much as eight stories. I think multiple building skirmishes aren’t as explored in video games (except for set piece-driven games like CoD–and even their gameplay is mostly hand-held), so to have 100 + players dishing it out in buildings at any given time makes PUBG all the more unique. I can’t wait to enjoy this new map and try to get the utterly coveted chicken dinner there.
What we know so far
Here’s what we know about the desert map so far:
- The desert map is set in Peru.
- It will be smaller than Erangel, but has a lot more to offer.
- Downtown (the city) will be full of taller buildings.
- There are surrounding oasis towns along the banks.
- There’s a stadium in this map.
- A large portion will be dedicated to sand dunes near desert towns.
