Choosing Ameya’s story route allows you to recruit a variety of characters belonging to different races. This makes it possible to run a balanced party throughout Ameya’s scenario.
Progressing through Ameya’s story route is also relatively easy even for beginner as there is only one path to the second world.
Strength-wise, Ameya herself becomes a strong magic attacker by simply collecting cats early on in her scenario. Even during the beginning stages of Ameya’s story route, she is a dominant presence on the battlefield and is well-suited for players new to the game’s combat.
Ameya’s powerful Tech Vermillion Sands, in particular, is usable immediately almost at the start of her scenario.
Finally, the strong formation Desert Lance can also be used early on during Ameya’s route which is especially strong against single targets who excel in physical attacks in the game.

Best Protagonist Characters for Veterans of the SaGa Series
Tsunanori Mido

Most of the party members you start with on Mido’s route belong to the Kugutsu race. These characters cannot learn new Techs via Glimmer and only gain new skills and abilities in battle by equipping Souls or mimicking their allies. Because of this, it may be hard to clear some of the early encounters during the scenario.
The biggest advantage when choosing to start with Mido, however, are the numerous Spirit Battles that occur during his story route. You have a high chance of obtaining rare equipment by taking down Sinister Spirits that appear in events exclusive to Mido’s route. Because of this, choose Mido if you want to farm for powerful gear during your first playthrough.
As you progresses through the Mido’s story route and collect more Souls for Kugutsu, battles will eventually become manageable later on.

All of the recruitable characters during the early stages of Siugnas’ scenario belong to the Human race who can equip two weapons. This allows them to handle a variety of situations in battle thanks to the number of armaments available to them.
Since the beginning events of Siugnas’ route involve many Human characters, it may either be appealing to certain players, especially those who like learning many Techs via the Glimmer system.
Siugnas unique Bloodsucking mechanic allows him to make various Human characters his followers, give them Blood Gear, and turn them into knights. Certain characters can also be permanently turned to no longer function as playable characters in battle.

Diva’s story starts in Delta Base where a lot of rare equipment can be obtained early on. Most of the gear you get in this world have an initial power of around 30.
Another advantage of choosing to start with Diva’s route is that the party gains access to the powerful Houtenmai formation near the start of the scenario. This formation can easily give you the upper-hand in many encounters against strong enemies in the game.
